Chapter One

One day Jennifer’s mother called her and her brother Jason into the family room and said she had some exciting news to tell them. After they all sat down she replied, "We are moving! We are moving to Ruskin Beach, Florida."

"What?!?" shrieked 18 year old Jennifer.

"Come on mom, that ain’t fair!" whined her 16 year old brother Jason. "Every time we get used to a place after a while you have to go and move us again."

"Well, you children are old enough to understand mine and your father’s reason’s for this. I want this kept quiet to the other children until your father gets home, do you understand me?"

They both nodded their heads as they walked away form their mother in anger. Jenn’s family consisted of three brothers and one sister, and of course their mother Kristine who everyone called Kris, and her father Thomas. Her oldest brother was Jason. She also had a 13 year old brother named Jake, and another 10 year old brother Scott who had a twin named Emily.

Right now the Harrington family resided in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Jennifer didn’t want to leave her best friends Kim and Jessica. The three of them were connected at the hip. All of the sudden as she was dialing Jessica’s house there was a knock at the door. "Come in" she replied softly hoping that it would be here father. It wasn’t, it was her mother.

"By the way sweetie, Jessica is moving with us. Her father got a job down there as well" she shut the door without letting her daughter say a word.

Jennifer immediately started dialing Jessica’s phone number again. When Jessica came to the phone she was crying. "Hey Jess, it’s Jennifer what’s wrong?" she asked.

"Oh, my parents told me that we were moving, down to Ruskin Beach in Florida." She sobbed.

"That’s great" replied Jennifer not even thinking that her parents hadn’t told her that she was also moving.

"What? You don’t even care that I am moving away from you?" she asked a little annoyed.

"Oh, I’m sorry maybe I should mention that I am moving with you." Said Jennifer.

"Really, that’s great. Well, I’m gonna let you go because I only have two days to pack. Bye!" replied Jessica with a happy tone.

"Bye" said Jenn as she hung up the phone.

Well, she thought to herself as long as that is out of the way, why don’t I call Kim she will be mortified but I gotta do it sometime. "Hey Kim" she said as her happy friend answered the phone.

"Hey what’s up Jenn?" she asked.

"Ummm… I know you are not going to like this but, I am moving to Florida and Jessica’s dad got a job down there too so, she will be moving too." She said with a sad voice.

Kim started to cry softly. "What am I going to do without you guys?" she asked in a whisper.

"Kim, you’re a popular kid, you’ll find kids in a snap," She paused "but you have to promise me one thing, don’t ever forget about us. You got that?"

"I will never forget about you guys, ever. When are you leaving?" she asked

"Sunday" said Jennifer.

"What, I only have two days left with you guys?" she cried.

"Yeah, I’m afraid that’s all we have" said Jenn with a slight sigh.

"Okay bye, I’ll talk to you before you leave right now I am going to call Jessica."

"Bye"

Jennifer thought a lot that day about how she was going to miss Kim but she knew Kim would be fine after a while.
