The Poems

Lost Love

I saw you yesterday
and the sight of you,
as always,
gladdened my heart.

But, when your eyes
looked into mine;
my joy
took flight in panic.

Your face was empty
of the smile I knew.
Mouth drawn;
you just looked through me.

I find it so hard
to think of you
as gone~~~
out of my life.

You changed me around.
Taught me, again, to laugh.
To gamble
on life's roulette wheel.

How can it be over?
Surely I've more to learn?
And you have more to teach?
And yet~~~

Your eyes are cold!
Your face is blank.
And I~~~
MUST start over again!

In Silence My Heart Cries Out

Why is it I can't
open my mouth
and tell you
how I feel?

Why can't I tell you
of the difference
you've made
in my life?

My mind churns
over and over
the things I would say.
If I could
only find my voice.

I would tell you
how safe
and protected
I feel in your arms.

I would tell you
that I love
the way your hair
curls around my finger.

That your kiss
is the sweetest
I've ever known.
That your touch
is the gentlest;
the most tender.

I would tell you
of the warm glow
that spreads through me
at the sight of you.

Of how my heart
skips a beat
at the sound
of your laugh.

I would tell you
oh, so many things;
if only~~~
I could find
my voice!

My Love...My Strength

Today, I need you as I've
never needed anyone before.
Today, I bleed from a thousand wounds
and need your body
pressed close to mine
to squelch the tide of blood.

Today, I am naked and vulnerable
and I need your arms to cover my nakedness
and your strength to protect me.

Today, I am full of pain and sorrow
and I need your words
to soothe my spirit.

Today, I am reminded of how
unsure things are in this life,
and I need your love
to calm my troubled brow.

I am old before my time.
I've watched for eons
the pain man inflicts on others.
Watched how greed and desire
drive lies, like nails,
into the souls of others.

I've seen indifference
of such magnitude
that the world was flooded
to stop it's spread.

I've watched love die by inches
until all that's left
is a bit of dust
in the palm of the hand.

I've watched respect
crumble into the black void
of nothingness!

I've written volumes of warnings
that no one heeds.
I've shouted with the force of hurricanes,
yet;no one heard.

I'm covered with the scars,
a lifetime of living
can inflict on one.

And today, I need your eyes
looking intently into mine;
to tell me, you see
only love!

Blind Your Rage

Your anger, flares up so easily
and scorches everything in its path.
Whether you mean to burn me, or not,hardly matters;
as it happens anyway.

I find myself alienated and frightened.
And, you don't seem to notice;
and that scares me even more!

Your anger very effectively
pushes me from you.
And, if you lose me now~~~
there can be NO other reason.

Why is it so neccessary
for you to rage at everything,
big and small?
Can you not see
what it does to me?

Oh god, I love you so!
But, I cannot handle
this part of your nature.
Please, please, learn
to control your temper.
Lest you burn me to cinders!

Love's Healing Embrace

Oh, to be a child again.
To be embraced by your warmth,
and soothed by words
of comfort.

To lay my troubles at your feet,
and have them kissed away
one by one, as if
they were never there.

I am broken beyond repair.
Forgotten and unloved~~~
Discarded, like the toys
in Grandma's attic.

Pick me up and mend me.
Make me whole again.
Dust me off and fix me.
So, I can live again!
