First Strike 1985

First Strike was not the second 'Yellow Label' pressing of the EP. The second pressing of the EP of which there were 15000 copies made was made in May 1979 after the Leps signed with Pete Martin and Frank Stuart-Brown (catalogue no MSB 001). Original 1000 copies released January 1979 (SRTS/78/CUS 232) on Bludgeon Riffola.

"First Strike" was actually released in 1985 and consists of demo tapes made by Martin & Stuart-Brown during 1978 and 1979. They remixed the tapes and released them. Def Leppard actually took out a court injunction to stop any further copies being pressed. There are not many copies which is why it is so expensive if you do manage to find a copy.

There was also a third version of the EP released after they signed with phonogram. On this the running order of the songs was reversed on the A-side. it was released on the Vertigo label no-6059 240 in September 1979.
