I have been receiving so many stories about how great Tony is, that I decided to post some of them! I am posting the ones about people meeting him. I did this because when an artist makes himself reachable to his fans, his music becomes more enjoyable. I was a major fan before I met Tony, but now he seems "real" and so do his lyrics.
First here's my story...
"I love telling the story about meeting Tony!! After being a fan for a little over a year, I saw him in Jesus Christ Superstar. I waited outside the stage door after the show and all the actors were coming outside. I was SO nervous! I kept asking for other people's autographs so I wouldn't faint from anxiety or something! Finally I saw him coming down the hall. When he came outside, I asked if I could get a picture with him. And this, this is my favorite part: he said, "Absolutely!" I got to talk to him for a few minutes and he asked where I was from and if I was having a good time in New York. One of the best nights of my life!"

"I met Tony for the first time at RENT about a week or so after he had joined
the Broadway cast. He walked out of the theater and my friend Amy and I
recognized him from pictures we'd seen of him. We went over and introduced
ourselves. He looked really shocked that we knew who he was-it was totally
adorable. He was very sweet. We made small talk for a few seconds and then he
had to leave to go get dinner. Amy and I hung around for a little while and
Tony came back down the block. He saw us and said "hi girls", did this cute
little eyebrow wiggle, and went into the theater. I grabbed Amy's had and
squeezed it really hard and my mouth was hanging open and I was having
something of a spaz attack. I turn around to face the theater doors and
there's Tony, smiling and waving at us."
"I was just excited about meeting him
yesterday(Easter Sunday), i thought he did such a great job on the musical.
I saw the performance on Saturday, and then on sunday my family went to
tavern on the green. I walked in and recognized him right away, but i really
doubted that it was him because they had a performance that night! but it
turns out, it was him, and he had just finished the show 30 minutes earlier.
Anyways, he was so gracious and acted flattered, and we took pictures and
talked to him."

"I would proclaim myself as the biggest Tony Vincent fan in the world--I've been following his career since 1995 when he released his first album. I've seen him in concert twice and I met him both times. Between the first and second concerts, I wrote him letters constantly, so at the second concert he asked me what my name was when he was signing my stuff and when I told him he dropped his pen and his jaw dropped to the floor and he said, "No way! You have written me so many letters! Give me a hug!" Then he got up around the autograph table and hugged me. Needless to say, it was the best night of my life."

"I have been following Tony's career for about one year now and one time I
met him, my friend and I waited for about an hour and a half for his first
JCS preview. When Rodney Hicks came out, we asked him about tony and he
said he should be out soon, so we said, well we just have these letters to
give him, so nice Rodney asked if we wanted him to run them up to him cause
it was no problem, so we said, "sure. Thank you so much." He comes running down
the stairs about about a minute later and sure enough Tony is following
right behind him. He comes outside and we said, "we are the girls that wrote
you the letters." He said "No Way"! He asked us for our names
and gave each of us a hand shake and introduced himself to us (as if we didn't
know!). It was wonderful, I took a pic with him (i have a couple) and then
he signed my cd cover. That was one of my favorite experiences meeting him."

"I went to see Rent for the first time in September. Being my first time and
all, I really didn't know who was "good" and stuff and went I got in the theatre
and saw the cast list in the playbill, I almost died, it was almost all
understudies! (Sunday Mat) But hey! I'm optimistic! Roger, from listening to
the CD has always been my favorite male lead (who can resist Adam Pascal?) but
wow! Mark blew me away! Tony was awesome and took my breath away. After the
show, the cast was out and signing away and there was Tony! He looked like an
angel! I was shaking like crazy and I gave him my pen and Playbill. What a nice
guy! He doesn't just sign your stuff, he talks to you and he acts so modest and
sincere when you tell him that he blew you away with his performance! When I
asked for a picture with him, he smiled and said, "Of course!" and he smiled
genuinely and put his arm around me in the picture! I nearly died. I can't
wait to see him in Jesus Christ Superstar and if I'!
m lucky again, I'll meet him again!"

"Well, the first time i saw Tony was back in 1998,
when I was 17. It was my 3rd time seeing Rent and Tony
was understudying Mark. I was so impressed by his
performance, he showed a side of Mark that none of the
other actors I have seen did, he showed Mark in a "cool"
light. He gave Mark a whole new dimension which i
loved. Afterwards i just had to meet him! So, there I
was standing there with all of the little teeny
bopper rentheads, waiting for Tony to come out. But
when he came out, the strangest thing happened, I
froze! I couldn't speak, i don't know why, i got so
shy all of a sudden!!! My friend had to drag me away,
and i never got to meet him! Well, i couldn't stop
thinking about him, so i joined his fan club, and
bought his CD. I kept going to see rent but tony
wasn't there again, till the 6th time i saw it. He
was finally in it again, but this time as Gordon.
Well, after the show I pulled my self together and
when he came out afterwards, i marched right up to him
and said..."OH MY GOD, YOU ARE SO TALENTED!!!" I went
on and on and he looked at me like i was crazy, cause
I guess he doesn't get to many compliments when he
plays gordon...lol. But he was still great, he took
his picture with me and we talked and everything...I
met Tony a couple of times after that, he's such a
great talented guy. But this was the first "offical"
time I met him."

"I first met Tony on May 18th 1999 outside the Nederlander theatre. Like other people have said, he was the sweetest and most generous guy! His response to us asking for pics and autographs was a smiling "Absolutely" and he even hugged us!!!! Yeah, insert me melting to the floor. He is such an amazing and inspiring performer and such a beautiful person inside and out. I wrote him an e mail thanking him for being so gracious to me when I met him and he wrote me back thanking me for the support and asking me to send my letter that I wrote him to the official RENT site!! How excited was I! I have a written him three or four more times and he has always responded so cheerfully. If you read this Tony, I love you and your work. Thank you for all the inspiring letters that you write to your fans on your website and for being such a wonderful person. Most stars wouldn't be half as courteous to their fans as you are. CAn't wait to see you again :)"

ok.. I saw Jesus Christ Superstar for the second time on may 20th. It was
as amazing as ever, and tony gave an awesome performance. So after the show
, I waited along with everyone else to get my pic taken with Tony. I had
both my parents armed with cameras, ready to take pics. So Tony pointed at
them and said "Who's gonna take the pic first, and they took the pic as he
was speaking...tony turned around laughing then said "lets try this
again"..then we took a decent pic without tony pointing at my parents. And
then the best part happend. I went to pull away from tony and got some of
my hair stuck around the button on his jacket. I was thrilled of course,
because I was stuck to tony vincent. after a bit of trying to untangle my
hair, he finally set me free.. And now I am already trying to plan another
trip to NYC to see JCSS for the third time : )

I have been a big fan of TONY for about two years now-and until recently I
thought I was the only one out there! I saw him as Roger 2 years ago, and
thought he was gorgeous and talented. A year later, I saw Manley Pope as
Roger, and it didn't affect me the same way. I read up on Tony, found his
website, and eventually got ONE DEED. I love the CD, and listen to it all
the time. It is so deep, beautiful, and inspiring. I finally say JCS, and
met Tony outside. I was so nervous, but he was so wonderful. I got his
autograph and pictures with him, and I spoke with him for quite a bit. It
was an unforgettable night. I'm such a huge fan, but I must say that in a
way I'm upset that there are so many fans like me-simply because I thought I
was one of the only ones.(dont take that offensively anyone!)

I met Tony when my friends and I went to go see him in concert in what must
have been 1996. It was my 17th birthday celebration. I was so excited. He
was absolutely incredible. I remember thinking, "This guy's bound for
Broadway," as I watched his appearance. I was positively floored.
I remember this as I waited in line to meet him:
There was a child ahead of me to get an autograph and he commented to the
child something along the lines of, "You are so cute! I just want to take
you home with me!" I smiled but one of the women behind the counter looked
at him like some kind of a petaphile. His reply was a shocked but kind,
"I'm just kidding!"
He appeared truly excited about meeting his fans and that was quite fresh.
I'll never forget that.
I'm so proud of him after all this time. It's so good to follow someone's
career and watch them move their way to the top. What a calling huh?
Adding salt to our drab world.
After the Tony Awards I put the 8x10 I got of him back in 1996 back up on my
wall in my closet (where my mini recording studio is) to remind me that
dreams and callings come true.
