Having the right clothing and equipment can make the difference between having a lot of fun in the outdoors and feeling pretty miserable. We've tried to put together a list of important clothing and equipment items you will want to begin acquiring so you'll have them for Boy Scouts. Why not give this list to parents and relatives to give them some ideas for your birthday and Christmas gifts ! If you start collecting these outdoor items early as a 2nd Year Webelos Scout, you'll have time to get most of this stuff before you cross-over into a Boy Scout Troop.
ONE MORE NOTE: This list starts with the things you should try to get first. We assume you'll start off with day hikes and single day (i.e. not overnight) activities with the Boy Scout troops you visit. This list shows those things you'll need for a day outing first; later in the list, we add things essential for an overnight camp (e.g. a good sleeping bag - a must before you sleep out in the spring), but which are not essential if you are going on a day hike with a scout troop.
