Times Like These-- Chapter 4

Justin sprinted up to where Jessica was walking. At first he slowed down and just watched her cry. She was crying so hard that her mascara was running down her face. As the car passed by, Jessica crossed the street up to her car. Justin ran up touched her shoulder.

"Are you OK? I know why you are crying. Michelle told me and she felt really bad about it." Jessica half-laughed and wiped away her tears.

"Of course, she thought that I wouldn't be as upset as I was, seeing what the bastard was like." Justin stood with a shocked look on his face. "Well the truth is I'm not upset for the reason that everyone thinks I am. Ryan got that ring by holding up a jewelry store, he shot the girl that worked there in order to get a stupid ring for me. We had broken up and wanted to get me back. Obviously it didn't work. He came back to my house, gave me the ring, and went the cops came to my house, he left. He held some people hostage so he could get out of trouble and a cop shot him. And all I have to say is 'Good Ridance'. Justin, I have always been a "I have my stuff together person" I have to be in control of myself. I wasn't with him and I hated it. I never loved him and frankly, this may sound cruel...but I'm glad to be rid of him. There is no emotional attatchment what so ever. I wish everone would reconize that. All I want to do is get on with my love life and find someone new. I need everyone to let me." By this time they were up to Jessica's car. As they got in the car "Music Of My Heart" was on.

"Jess, turn it off. I have this thing where I can't listen to myself sing." Jess looked over at him starting to turn beat red.

"Are you kidding...you have an absolutely Gorgeous voice!" Justin turned more red.

"Thanks, but change." Jess laughed and turned it to a different station. Now, they were listening to Backstreet Boys. This was met by a groan from Justin.

"Pick, BSB or, well, you" Justin promptly clicked it back to N Sync.

"Wait, did you notice that both of us have no idea where to go. Where are we going?" They both looked around and decided to drive a little more. Soon they were at the ocean. After about 5 minutes of sitting in silence they both decided to get out and walk around.

"So, how long are you in Cherion Falls for?" Jess inquired. She was beginning to find Justin VERY appealing. Justin looked over at her hair blowing in the wind. Reality just hit him just how lonely he was.

"Three weeks. Usually we would only stay in a location for 3 days, but we needed a break where people wouldn't expect us to be." He sat down on the sand and then layed down.

"Lucky you. 3 weeks off. I have to go to school." Jessica said standing above him. "School is so exhausting. I am sure you guys are more tired. But whatever you do...don't envy us 'regular folk' that have to go and lead normal lives." Then Jessica layed down right next to him. Soon 4 hours went by, it started getting dark while they were talking about everything from school, music, dating to parents. Jessica looked at her watch. It was now 8:30.

"Oh my god. Did you have to be somewhere? Cause I totally didn't reali-" She was cut off by Justin's lips on hers. He wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her back down with him. Jessica pulled back.

"We can't do this." Jessica said and turned away to look at the ocean. She looked at the waves and almost started to cry. Justin walked up to her and hugged her.

"Why not?"

"Because, we can't just have this 'thing' for 3 weeks, you go back to your life, and I go back to mine."

"Good. Because that's not what I want." He turned her so that they were face to face. "I am sick of just having one night stands with all these slutty girls. I've never had someone like you, and I want one. Please, I know we could try and make it work." Jess pondered it for a second and all she knew was that she had to risk it again. She didn't want to, but then again she did. She said a silent prayer for this working out. She didn't even give an audible response. She just kissed him once again.
