Satisfy You: Chapter 13

Kaycie soon feel into a deep sleep. She woke up as soon as the sun was coming up. She gazed at Nick. She had to push all her emotions back down. “I have to leave him now, or else I won’t be able to.” She thought to herself. She got up and gathered her things. She walked over and kissed him. He stirred, but didn’t wake up. She took one last look as she made her way over to Ashley’s room. As soon as she was there she took a deep breath and knocked. Luckily, AJ didn’t wake up. As soon as she opened the door Kaycie could tell she was upset. Her eyes were red and puffy and she didn’t smile at Kaycie, like she normally does.

“We should go. Let me go grab my things.” Ashley walked over to the chair and got her things. She blew right by AJ.

“Aren’t you going to say goodbye?” Kaycie asked.

“No, I can’t. Let’s go.” Ashley shut the door behind her and they made their way back to Boston. They went to the airport and boarded their plane. They were so upset that they didn’t even joke around. In fact, they didn’t even speak. They just went back, took showers and made the room totally dark, then went to bed and slept all day. The room was so dark that they couldn’t even tell whether it was night or day. The phone waked Kaycie up. She looked at it for a while, but decided to let the machine get it.

“Hey, you have reached Kaycie and Ashley, and we are not home. If we don’t return your calls get a clue and don’t call back. Adios!” She waited in anticipation of who it might be. Hopefully it was AJ or Nick calling. She sat up and listened.

“Hey Ash and Kay, could you return my CD? I need it. Thanks, ciao!” Kaycie sunk back into her bed as she realized it was their friend Mariposa.

“We need to get over it.” Ashley said.

“I didn’t realize you were awake. Why do you think we should get over it?” Kaycie replied.

“Because, when you think about it. We are two very independent and strong people. Why let THEM get to us. Yes, they were great guys. But I don’t know about you, but I can’t let them control my feelings from thousands of miles away. I just can’t.”

“No, you don’t WANT them to. You like to be in control. So let’s not lie about why you want to get over it so bad. No matter how hard you try Ash. You won’t. So let’s nip that in the bud right now. You can’t and I can’t. I don’t know why, and I am pissed at myself too for feeling this way after a couple of weeks too. But we can’t control what we feel as much as we want to. Let’s just start from there and you never know. Things might work out.” Kaycie hoped that it would all work out on their own. She knew that being with someone in their situation would be hard. But if it meant being happy, she would do it. She also knew Ashley would too.

“So, what do we do now?” Ashley inquired.

“I don’t know. Let’s just see if they call.” As if on cue, the phone rang. Instead of letting in ring they both dived for it. Ashley got it though. She turned up the volume and picked it up.

“Hello?” Kaycie smiled, she knew that it was AJ. She heard his deep voice from over the phone. “Yea, I’m sorry about leaving. It was too hard. I am really sorry” She looked over and put her hand over the receiver. “Kaycie, could I talk in private?”

“Yea, I’ll be…I don’t know where I’ll be. Probably drowning in my own self pity about your guy calling and not mine.” She turned and walked out of the door and down the hall to her friend Heather’s room. She stayed there for about two hours. She decided Ashley was done with her conversation and walked back to her room. Ashley was still talking to AJ when Kaycie walked in.

“DUDE! I AM GOING TO BED! I’ll put my headphone’s on so I can’t hear you. But I am not leaving.” Ashley just laughed it off. Kaycie climbed in her bed and faced the wall. She lied though; she didn’t put on her headphones and heard every word Ashley said.

“So Nick’s pissed at her for not saying goodbye?…What did you say?…Well, we should do something about it!…It is our business!…I can’t believe that asshole is pissed!…Put him on the phone! I have something to say.” Ashley waited for Nick to get on the phone, as did Kaycie. Even if she could only hear half of the conversation.

“Hello? Ashley?”

"Nick, how the fuck could you possibly be mad at Kaycie for leaving? What the fuck is going through your mind when you come up with shit like this? There is absolutly no reason for you to be mad." Kaycie laid in her bed listening to Ashley yell at Nick. She couldn't take it anymore.

"Give me the phone." Kaycie got up and walked over to Ashley and grabbed it out of Ashley's hand. "Nick, I left because I knew how much it would hurt for me to have to say goodbye to you. Sorry, you don't approve of the way I handled it but I didn't want to have to go through that. Now, if you want to stay pissed at me for avoiding getting myself all worked up go right the fuck ahead." Ashley just sat there with a smile on her face watching Kaycie yell and Nick. "Arlight, I will talk to you later then." Kaycie handed the phone to Ashley.

"Good night AJ. I will talk to you tomorrow. Bye." Ashley hung up the phone and turned to Kaycie who went back to her bed. "So what happened with Nick?" Ashley asked.

"He said that he didn't want to talk about it right then." Kaycie had her back turned to Ashley.

"Are you pissed at me for yelling at him?" Ashley could see why she would be.

"No, I just don't understand why he is so mad and he didn't want to talk about it so I still don't know." Ashley could tell Kaycie was really upset about Nick not talking to her. "I am really tired I am going to bed now." Ashley walked over to her bed a laid down.

"Alright, good night." Ashley got into her bed and just laid there thinking. She never fell right to sleep, she would always lay in her bed thinking about all different stuff. Just as she fell asleep she heard Kaycie crying. Ashley decided not to say anything. She knew that Kaycie wouldn't want to talk about it.

The next day Kaycie woke up to Ashley talking...rather whispering, on the phone. She knew who it was. It was AJ. She heard Ashley use that "I'm so happy" voice. She laid there and tried to go back to sleep. She would much rather be asleep then have to remember what went on. The more she thought about it, the more pissed off she got. "I did it so we didn't have to see each other get upset. Now he's pissed. I just can't win can I?" Her thoughts were interrupted by Ashley giggling. Something she didn't do often. She was genuinely happy that Ashley was happy with AJ. At least one of them could be. Her mind raced back to that morning. She became so mad when she thought of what an ass he was being. She was glad she would be in school for the next two months. It was when she was back at home that she would be upset. She knew Ashley would be going on tour with them to be with AJ, as she should. The question is what was she going to do?

She decided to try to go back to sleep. It was only 8 o'clock. Her head snapped back to the clock. It was 8 and Ashley was up...and laughing? It was strange. Ashley sleeps at least to noon on non-school days. Now she's up, showered, dressed, and talking on the phone AND pleasant? It was too bizarre, Kaycie laughed to herself and went back to bed for the rest of the day.
