Satisfy You: Chapter 8

Kaycie walked back to Nick’s room. She really started to feel uncomfortable with the fact that she was spending the night in someone’s hotel room that she hardly knew. As much as she wanted to fight it, she did not want to stay the night. “This could either go two ways, he’ll either get offended, or he’ll respect me for the way I feel. If he chooses the first then I know he’s not good enough for me anyway.” She reasoned to herself. She knew that once she walked in that hotel room and saw him all sense and reason would walk right out the door. She knocked quietly on the door, after a few seconds Nick opened the door. She looked up at his head and noticed that it was soaking wet…her eyes traveled down his wet body. “Oh my god. I’m going to hell. Don’t look, Don’t look…No wait, Look. He’s hot.” Now she was confused. A hot, wet, guy, alone, in a hotel room…or standing up for her beliefs. After a brief second, she decided on staying.

“Hey, sorry I’m not dressed. I decided to take a quick shower while you were gone.” He smiled, because he could feel Kaycie’s eyes on him. She had to peel herself away and stare over his shoulder at a painting on the wall.

“OK, well, I’ll let you get back to showering. If you want I’ll hang down in the lobby or whatever so you can have some privacy.” As she turned around to walk out the door, Nick grabbed her by the arm.

“No, you can stay. I’ll just get dressed in the bathroom. Usually I walk around the hotel room naked after a show; winds me down.” He saw the look on Kaycie and tried everything to keep a straight face to see what her reaction would be.

“What? You walk around, naked, after a show?” He started to laugh.

“No, I’m just playing. Come in. It’ll take me 10 minutes.” She walked into the hotel room and sat on the sofa. She decided that it would be best to watch TV and get her mind out of the gutter. She couldn’t stop thinking about Nick in the towel. She turned on the TV and watched the new LFO video. Her thoughts drifted from how hot Devin was to what was going to happen in the future now that they knew Backstreet Boys. How could they just leave tomorrow and forget them? Kaycie knew as hard as she would try, that she couldn’t. She was so mad at herself for feeling this way, she had always believed that there was no such thing as love at first sight, but it just proved her wrong when she first opened the door last week. She started to slowly become increasingly tired. She fell asleep before Nick got out of the shower. He just stood there and watched her. He stayed there and wondered what to do with her, she was constantly moving around in her sleep so he knew she was uncomfortable. He picked her up and carried her to the bed, he layed down with her and she rested her head on his shoulder. After about 10 minutes she murmured something in Nick’s ear. Half-asleep, he wasn’t sure what she said.

“I didn’t hear you.” Nick whispered back. Kaycie got up and stumbled across the room. She looked back at Nick who was now sitting up on the bed.

“I shouldn’t be here. What happens tomorrow? What happens when you have to leave? I am not going to be left out in the dark while you have the time of your life. Sorry, isn’t going to happen.” Kaycie was near tears, but she knew she had to be strong and hold them back. She really wanted to stay with Nick, and she knew Nick wanted her to stay too, but she had to be cruel to be kind. She had to cut it off now in hopes of sparing them both a lot of hurt. She put her clothes from the concert back into the bag and went over to call a cab. As she was dialing, Nick clicked the receiver, cutting off the phone call.

“You think that being on tour is just so fun? Kay, I never get any time to myself. I never am able to just hear silence. Never. I hate it. I have never had a relationship that lasted more than 1 night. It’s always one night stands. It sucks. You think that I am willing to just forget my feelings? I wish you could understand and see what it’s like. No privacy. Just for once, I want a relationship that isn’t affected by my money, fame, or otherwise.” Kaycie sighed. She felt bad for him. She figured that if Ashley was OK staying she could stay too. She just looked at him sincerely and tried to explain her side. They talked all night and when they heard a knock at the door they realized it was time for Nick to leave.

Ashley walked back into the hotel room after her little altercation with Kaycie. Her mind was filled with thoughts and she couldn’t just forget them. She knew Kaycie’s opinion on the subject. It confused her even more, she needed to make a decision. Hopefully she would get to know AJ a little better so she could make a decision. She talked with Brian for months, she could at least give AJ once night. She opened the door and saw AJ laying on the bed watching “The Tonight Show”. She heard him laughing at his monologue and wondered to herself why she even got involved with them. She should have just never continued the conversation with Brian online. Now her normally structured life was falling apart - all in one night. She hated people that didn’t have set, structured goals set out for themselves she also hated the people that let their lives turn into a drama. She now had a feeling she was becoming one of those people and she hated it. AJ saw her standing at the door. “I wonder what’s going to happen with her and I. What’s more important, my happiness or being loyal to my friend Brian? Maybe once Ashley knows it’ll all work out for the best.” He hoped so. He waved her to come sit down. She felt her stomach tense up at the thought of not knowing what will happen.

“Hey, I heard you yelling out there, what happened?” He remembered hearing Kaycie say something about “AJ or Brian…” It was then that he realized that Ashley had the same feelings for him as he did for her, it’s just that she was torn between him and Brian. He felt that Ashley liked him more and just felt guilty about it. He decided that he would have to find a way to let Ashley figure out what was going on with Brian. This way Brian would look like the bad guy and not him. He wanted to be with Ashley so bad, like the rest of the guys he got lonely on tour. It was not as bad as Nick, but he did feel alone sometimes. He listened as Ashley described to him the situation.

“Well, we can watch TV to get your mind off of it, or we can order food from Room Service. I am starving.” Actually, Ashley was too. She was so nervous about meeting them that she forgot to eat.

“That’s fine, where’s the menu?” AJ pointed to a desk over near the balcony.

“I think it’s over there.”

“OK.” She flipped through the pages of the menu. “I am going to have that Chicken Scampi. It looks good.”

“Whoa, that’s my favorite. I’m going to have that too.” AJ dialed up room service and ordered the food. “It should be here in about 20 minutes. Let’s watch TV. We have Jerry Springer, Info-mercial, Info-mercial…oh wait, the hotel offers movies. We should order one. What are you up for? Comedy, Drama, Suspense—“

“Comedy! What do they have?” AJ started searching through the options.

“South Park, American Pie...That's about all that is really appealing."

"South Park!! Kaycie saw that and said she almost pissed her pants. I don’t know if your as immature as she is, but I did hear it was really good.” Ashley stated. She remembered when Kaycie walked in from that movie, her mascara was smudged because she laughed so hard she teared up.

“South Park it is. Hey, speaking of Kaycie, she doesn’t like me very much does she?” He remembered when she rolled her eyes at him before in the tour bus.

“OK, maybe I should tell you this. I think we can be mature enough to talk about what’s going on. I like Brian, but I also really like you.” She blushed as she said this. “When you heard us out in the hall, Kaycie made it clear to me that she favors you over Brian. I think it is because she saw the way he hugged one of his fans tonight. She said it gave her ‘bad vibes’.” AJ was shocked. Kaycie knew, she had to have. “I bet she just doesn’t want to tell Ashley and get involved.” He decided that it was best not to tell Ashley who that Blond was.

“Oh really? Well I think she’s cool too. She’d be good for Nick. She’d whip him into line. Maybe we’d all have a nicer and more relaxed Nick on tour with us.” Nick had become more tense and easily aggravated lately. No one knew why though. They figured it was just because being on tour was exhausting.

“Yea, I think they like each other. They’d be cute together. And you are right. Kaycie will keep him in line.” There was a knock on the door.

“Food’s here!” AJ yelled. He was really hungry.

“I’ll get it.” Ashley walked to the door and tipped the guy, very well actually. Only Kaycie knew this but she recently inherited a lot of money from a deceased family friend. He left 30 million dollars to her in a trust fund. When she turned 18 she got 1 million and has to wait until she is 21 and graduated from College to get the rest. She carried the food back to the bed and set it down. She then ordered the movie and got comfortable. She looked over at AJ made a decision. Brian.
