SABRES RAISE THE BANNER TONIGHT
By Patrick Matthies
Friday, October 8, 1999
Well, It's time for a change, and this seems like the day to do it. The Home Opener, in front of a home crowd, and raising of a Banner is going to be a
treat for those fortunate to have tickets to tonight's game. The Sabres Take on their old nemesis the Capitals, and with any luck, Robbie Ray won't be the only one scoring. The Caps are short, but they'll play their hearts out, they always do.
What The Caps need to do to win: Well, lets see....Hope to heck they get a strong game out of Kolzig, who just hasn't been the same since being torn a new one by the wings in 98. Peter Bondra needs to get some pucks in the back of the net and avoid flairing tempers. A strong defense game is out of the
question.
What the Sabres need to do to win: Watch that banner raise, and think about all the hard work it took them to be able to raise it. Find a way to deal without the "Gruesome Twosome" #4 and #74. Grande-Pierre should fill in one of those spots. All eyes will be on Satan, to see if it was money well spent, and we're all hoping Dom is fully healed (and he looked good in his preseason periods).
