MLB Team Previews

Well, the yankees have once agin captured a world series title. But hey look at the bright side, now everyone can start over and everyone has an equal chance at the ultimate goal for 2000. (Yeah Right!)

Here are some of my individual team predictions for the 2000 season. Remeber these are just some teams not all, as I have a social life outside of the internet. But don't worry, eventually i will have all the teams with in depth looks.

New York Yankees- Baseballs version of America's team, they will once again shine in 2000. They may lose David Cone to free agency, but they really won't miss him. After his perfect game he did not fair to well, but the yanks still managed to win. Bernie Williams may also be traded, but do you think the yankees would give him up for nothing, i think not. Plus they have the best closer in baseball, a pretty solid bullpen, a damn good lineup, and the best team pitching staff in baseball without Roger Clemens. Unfortunately the Yankees do have Roger Clemens. So that begs me to ask, what were the yankees thinking?

New York Mets- The amazin' mazin' mazin' mazin' mets finally made it to the 99, but they won't do it in 2000 unless they get some pitching. Kenny Rogers has filed for free agency, and Rick Reed is a potential free agent. Even if they can sign 1 or both of them they still need some help. Juan Guzman or Andy Benes perhaps. Maybe David Cone. Whatever happens they need pitching. They have the best defense in baseball and a very potent offense. But they have no starting pitching and there once solid bullpen is not so solid. Also John Olerud filed for free agency, UH OH!!

Toronto Blue Jays- The future for them could be a bright one if they spend the money, unfortunately they don't appear to want to. Shawn Green and Carlos Delgado may be traded and David Segui is a free agent. David Wells can't help unless they keep Delgado and/or Green, or they sign a good quality free agent. Also it would help if Pat Hentgen would have a rebirth in his career, but that is not likely.

Detroit Tigers- The tigers may have aqquired Juan Gonzalez, but that won't make them a contender. The reason is because hitting is not the only aspect to the game of baseball. By letting go of Justin Thompson, they left a gap in their pitching staff the size of comerica park. So basically, no pitching, no championship in Detroit.

Atlanta Braves- The team New Yorkers love to hate(including me). The braves are considered the frontrunners in the Ken Griffey Jr. Race, and getting him could be good, or bad. Andres Galaragga will be back, but Andruw Jones and Maddux or Milwwod will have to be traded. But whether they get him or not, they will still win the NL east.

Cincinnati Reds- The team in my opinion is best suited for Griffey. They have a low pay roll, Griffey is from Cincinnati(not living there now though), and Griffey has expressed some interest in going to Cincy. Either way The reds will make another run at the central division crown with the addition of Dante Bichette. He fills the void left by Vaughn since he is a free agent and he doesn't seem to want to come back to cincinnati. Also Steve Avery and Juan Guzman are both Free agents and they have filed. So, my best bet is that they will once again miss out, but it's gonna be close.
