Romana

Ramona was a Time Lord sent by the White Gardian to help the Doctor retrive the Key To Time. During the course of her time with the Doctor, Ramona regenerated once. Both incarnations are shown here.

Ramona I (Mary Tamm)

Romana's first regeneration was, at first, a stuck-up, know-it-all brat, fresh out of The Academy at Galifray. She was convinced she knew it all and considered the Doctor to be unstable and unreliable. (Um, actually, I think we might have to give her that one...) She even threatened to use the Doctor in one of her Psycology papers at school. She had no experience, however, with any kind of danger and had no idea how to take care of herself in the kind of situations she got into with the Doctor. She learned quickly, however, and also quickly accepted that the Doctor knew what he was doing when it came to wandering around the universe. Her first episode, The Ribos Operation, was also the first of the "Key to Time" series. Her last episode was also the end of the "Key to Time" series, The Armageddon Factor.

Ramona II (Lalla Ward)

Lalla Ward took over the role of Romana when Mary Tamm decided to leave the show. Ward's Romana was far more fun and carefree then Tamm had been. She dressed in "funky" clothes and was always up for an adventure. She was still a know-it-all but she now had some survival skills as well--and also knew that the Doctor was far more experienced than she was in getting out of dangerous situations. Romana left the Doctor in E-Space, at the end of The Warriors' Gate, opting to stay with K-9, who had been damaged, and help a race known as the Thals gain freedom from slavery. Essentially, she became the "Doctor Who" of E-space.

The Doctor, Ramona and Astra. (Tom Baker, Lalla Ward and Mary Tamm)

Astra from "The Armagedon Factor" was played by Lalla Ward, who soon after took over the role of Ramona from Mary Tamm.
