My Life in Doom

My career in Doom editing began in 1997 with a dozen or so WADs that I never uploaded to cdrom.com. Relax, guv'nor! These weren't exactly Romero Quality Fragfests so you aren't missing much by not playing them. I was still learning how to make a level good enough to entertain someone besides myself.

I kept busy in the second half of 1998 with the Gatchaman Doom TC. Originally, this was only going to be a graphics replacement WAD, but through Len's encouragement and contributions, Gatchaman Doom turned into a smashing, full-blown retro anime TC.

After Gatchaman Doom was released in early 1999, I created a couple of levels that made it to cdrom.com and got some favorable e-mail response. "Lodge of the Undead" and "Fordham Doom" were both fun levels that, through Len and Rez's encouragement and contributions, turned into a 9 level TC or minipak called Lovinger Outpost. (Are we seeing a pattern here?)Even though Lovinger doesn't have any new enemies, I think it departs enough from traditional Doom play and has enough new textures to qualify it as a quasi TC. Swinging Union Jacks and Dolly Birds will undoubtably dig the groovy new textures, most of which yours truly created himself.

During the making of both TCs, several ideas were generated that didn't fit in with the projects. Many of these ideas are incorporated into Mythconceptions. Our latest TC incorporates time machines, Grecian and Middle Eastern mythology, mutated Doom monsters, and some sci-fi elements. Mythconceptions will be released in 2001.

I'm also in direct contact with Mr Arthur Jordan, the man without whom none of this would be possible.
