A WINDY DAY
A strong Low Pressure system moved up from Texas, through the Ohio River Valley, and into Canada. A warm front from it pushed across Long Island on Friday, Feb 9th. A quick shower at dawn on the 10th, preceded the cold front. (Only .02" of rain) The forecasted called for very windy weather on Saturday, gust to 55 mph.
The wind started to pick-up during the night to 10-15 mph. At 7:50 AM it was 51.4 degrees, and rose to 55.0 @ 8:42. Winds had increased with the clearing skies, and were blowing 12-20 mph, with a gust to 27.
It continued to be windy at 15-25 mph during the day. Highest gust was 34 mph @ 1:37 PM. By late afternoon, winds had started to diminish some to 12-18 mph. While the highest gust didn't reach what was forecast, it was still a very windy day with slowly dropping temperatures.
