WINTER

2001-02

What was the Winter 2001-02 like? This page will give you the major events.

Fall 2001 had been very mild and dry. The winter started off dry with about seasonable temperatures. A coastal storm right on the shoreline brought rain on the evening of Jan 6th. The next day an upper level disturbance followed the storm, to finally bring just over an inch of snow.

A weak storm moved across the Great Lakes on 2/17/02 and re-developed just south and east of LI in the late afternoon, pulling down colder air. A flurry at 9:30 PM was followed by a snow shower at 11 PM which left a dusting of snow on the ground.
