Q: Is Homeschooling legal
in New York State? |
A: Yes. Homeschooling is legal in all states.
In New York State, after your school
district receives your Letter of Intent
they will send you a copy of the
Commissioners Regulations 100.10 and a
form for the Individualized Home
Instruction Plan (IHIP). |
Q: Do I have to have a
teaching certificate? |
A: No, not in New York State. You do not need a college education or certification.
You only need a strong will for your children
to be well educated. |
Q: How can I teach several grades
at the same time? |
A: Many subjects can be taught to several grades together such as Bible, history, and science. If you have older children they can
do a lot of their work independently while
younger children receive one-on-one teaching.
|

child over the years. |
Q: Where do I find the materials
to teach with? |
A: Text books and teaching aids are available from many publishers and mail-order companies. Correspondence schools offer a complete curriculum package.
