TOOLS POLICY

6.15.2 LIMITED TOOLS PIT

The following lists of tools are tools that have limitations in the limited tool pit:
A. Come-along if used for pulling: minimum 2 ton rating
B. Chains: rated for the tool they are to be used with. I.e.: rescue chains with come-along, spreader chains rated by the manufacturer to use with a spreader.
C. Definition of Hydraulic Tools allowed: Tools that require manual manipulation to work and are not powered by an auxiliary power source such as: fuel, air, electricity, water, etc.
Only 1 manual pump can operate the following:
1 spreader} OR 1 cutter } 1 combination spreader/cutter
1 ram of each size
D. Any tools not listed will be allowed in the limited tool pit should they qualify under the policy.

The following list of tools will be minimum that a local host may allow/furnish in the limited and unlimited pit:

- Pry axe with or without can opener attachment (2)
- Flat head axe (1)
- Pick head axe (1)
- Bolt Cutters (2)
- Pry bars, e.g. - F.E. bar, Haligan Tool, etc. (4)
- Claw Hammer
- Ball pean hammer
- Sledge hammer
- Rubber mallet
- Channel lock pliers
- Battery pliers
- Assorted other pliers
- Assorted screw drivers
- Assorted socket wrenches, standard and metric
- Assorted vice grips
- Assorted wrenches, standard and metric
- Assorted adjustable wrenches
- Hacksaws (4)
- Assorted knives
- Seat belt cutter
- 2-ton come-a-long, chain, cable or nylon with spare handles (2)
- Rescue chains, 12' certified grade with oblong ring, shortener and slip hook (4)
- Assorted chains (4)
- *Light hydraulic tools - any light hydraulic tool that meets the tool definition (see definition at bottom of page)
- Nylon ratchet straps (2)
- Air chisel and bits (4)
- Impact wrenches and ratchets, air or electric powered (1)
- High lift jacks (2)
- Reciprocating saws, air or electric powered (2)
- Spring loaded centre punch
- Glass saw, air or electric powered and manual (2)
- Assorted cribbing
- Assorted patient care items (blankets, collars, etc.)
- Air bags, high, low, and medium pressure - 1 set each
- Soft, medium and hard board protection
- Pike pole (1)
- Ladder up to 6' (1)
- Utility rope min. 2" (1)
- Air bottles (8)

Definition of light hydraulic tools :
- to be constructed as tools which are attached by a single hose on a permanent mechanical basis to a small manual hydraulic pump or have an integral pump and hydraulic reservoir combined.
Limit: (1) cutter, (1) spreader, (1) mini cutter, and (1) each size ram.
