Trey to record solo album,
and more...
There is no precedent in rock & roll for the decision made last fall by the four members of Phish. After seventeen years and 1,300 concerts together, guitarist/vocalist Trey Anastasio, drummer Jon Fishman, bassist Mike Gordon and keyboardist Page McConnell announced that they were stopping. Not exactly breaking up, but also not promising that they would ever be back. There were no fights, meltdowns or Yokos. They didn't burn out, and they didn't fade away. They just quietly decided to pack in while they were still on top. Read full article |

Trampled by Lambs & Pecked by the Dove consists of 25 raw tracks recorded by Trey
Anastasio & Tom Marshall in 1997 during 4 weekend
songwriting sessions. There is an unmistakable immediacy
& excitement to these tracks, as the songs were
recorded to an eight-track digital tape machine as they
were being created. Their efforts over a total of 9 days
yielded 10 songs featured on the 2 most recent Phish
albums, The Story of the Ghost & Farmhouse, as well
as additional songs that have been performed live by
Phish, but not recorded in the studio. This CD also
contains songs from the sessions which have not yet been
heard elsewhere. (PHANS.COM) Tracklist: 1. Brian and Robert 2. Limb by Limb 3. Blue & Shiny 4. Twist 5. Wading in the Velvet Sea 6. Farmhouse 7. Saw it Again 8. Piper 9. Flat Tornados 10. MESSAGE FROM RADIO CITY Posted from PHISH to rec.music.phish via Shelly Culbertson: >>>>>>>>If you will be attending the shows in New York next weekend, please note the following message from the general manager of Radio City Music Hall. Your understanding and cooperation is very much appreciated. Thank you. "All of us at Radio City Music Hall are really looking forward to being part of the upcoming Phish shows -- two very special nights in a very special place. We're working closely with the tour staff to make sure that everything goes smoothly for everyone -- organizing an effective ticket pick-up and entry system, plus accomodating the tapers and letting people in with empty water containers to re-fill inside (not things we would normally do). But we're asking for your help too -- please come in the spirit of enjoying the music and enjoying our beautifully restored theater. We know this is asking alot, but please, no smoking and just treat our seats and carpets with a little extra care to keep them looking stylish for the next time. We'll make sure everyone feels welcome inside." - Shelly ---------- PHISH.COM |

Stone Magazine! Everyone I know found out about the New Year's show on the Web," says Brian Reen, an eighteen-year-old fan from Connecticut. Reen discovered Phish through friends five years ago and began looking to the Internet to stay informed. He started frequenting various message boards, eventually joining a small one that had fifty other fans; they became a tightknit group of followers who often see each other when Phish are on tour. "I see at least one other person from the message board at each show," Reen says. "I road-tripped with five of them to Florida for New Year's. A couple of people have even moved in together." Reen recently started his own site, www.phans.com, which he says gets 5,000 hits a day. Read full article by clicking here. |

Phish float donated to
R&R Hall of Fame.. The hot-dog float that carried Phish to the stage during their New Year's Eve festival in Florida last week will be donated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, according to the band's publicists. The float will hang in the hall's atrium. The Burlington, Vt., improvisational band rode the float over the crowd of 75,000 at Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation before playing the eight-hour marathon set that ended the Dec. 3031 event. The shows grossed $11.6 million, according to the trade magazine Pollstar, making it the highest-grossing millennium event in the United States. The band also used the hot-dog float at a show at the Boston Garden on Dec. 31, 1994. Read full article by clicking here. |
