Scouting Life BBS - Mission

Our Mission At Scouting Life

In 1991, we started this BBS for the purpose of providing scouts, as well as other morally straight people, with a place to gather, exchange ideas and information, mingle, and have fun, in a clean, safe, and fun environment.

As we embark on our first serious attempt to promote Scouting Life BBS to as large a portion of the online world as possible, this mission has become a moral obligation as the world wide web continues to decline into nothing more than an online shopping mall on the bad side of town with seedy characters hiding around every corner.

In todays world of school massacres, mass shootings, bombings, hate crimes, satanic cults, and child predators, it is an absolute necessity that the youth of our nation can have "safe havens" where they can gather without fear of somebody attacking them or imposing immoral beliefs on them, and it is equally important that parents know that such places as these exist.

Unfortunately, the World Wide Web is INFESTED with this type of behavior. Parents may feel some security if they use filter services, but, they are getting a false sense of security.

Time Magazine published an article on May 10, 1999 concerning protecting children on the internet, and had shown statistics from the 4 top filter services on the net. While all scored well in blocking Sexually explicit materials and bomb building, there were suprisingly mixed results in the areas of alchohol, tobacco, hate, racism, violence, and satanic cult related content, and NOT ONE of the filter services effectively blocked these materials accros the board. What's the message? Parents BEWARE! No matter what, the web is NOT safe.

Scouting life BBS is a place where scouts and morally straight people in the NY Capital District can gather without fear of ANY content of this type being present, and it will REMAIN that way.

While continuing on our mission, it is our hopes that as Scouting Life BBS becomes more popular, that others will take notice, and more systems of this nature will begin to pop up across our nation, and that the all but forgotten world of BBSing can be revived as an alternative online communications and entertainment forum.
