On August 7th 2002, Schodack Valley secured a loan to put on an additon to the back of the firehouse. These funds, with an additional amount being supplied by a grant from New York State will help the members to complete the addition which will include a new kitchen, a large storage area and a room for a brand new heating and cooling system to replace out of date furnaces and a spot for an emergency back up generator, capable of providing power to the whole building in case of a power failure.

To reduce cost, Schodack Valley memebers have completed a large amount of the construction theirselves, building the walls and putting on the roof. They've worked weekends to help move the project along. While elements of the construction will be contracted out, such as the heating system, Schodack Valley members should complete most of the construction by 2004.

On Saturday, August 31st, 2002 Schodack Valley members participated in a parade and competition at the Schagticoke Fair. The competition team looked for their first ever victory, and was able to capture second place for the dressing event. Schodack Valley is proud of the accomplishment.
