AAU Nationals (6/16 - 6/20/07)

Based on the information gathered from the parents, and my own judgment of what would be best for the development of our players, I have decided to register the team for the AAU National Championships in Orlando. The girls will get a lot of playing experience and will also get much more exposure than they would at a smaller tournament.

We will be playing in the 16Club division. We will be playing pool play on 6/17 (Sunday), 6/18(Monday), and 6/19(Tuesday). Each of those days we will play in either the AM or PM wave (we won't know which until closer to the event). Playoffs will be on Wednesday 6/20/06 and will be single elimination format.

By choosing this tournament, we are extending our season by about 7 weeks. That means more experience, but it also means more opportunity for burnout. So, in order to fight that, we will be taking a week or 2 off from practice at the beginning or middle of May. If any of the girls chooses not to play, I will need to know as soon as possible so I can try and bring another player up from one of the 15U teams.

I would appreciate any input the parents might have about lodging. If anyone has an idea of where they'd like to stay, I can look into it for us. Additionally, if any parents are not going to be able to attend, and would like their player to go with another family, please try and make those arrangements soon.
