SUPERBOWL XXVII

BILLS VS. COWBOYS - JAN. 1993

PLAY OF THE GAME:

With less than two minutes left in the game, Troy Aikman hits Michael Irvin with a hitch pass and Irvin then prances 58 yards for the winning touchdown!

HIT OF THE GAME:

Ken Norton, Jr., imitating his boxing father, puts a KO hit on Thurman Thomas, knocking off his helmet and sending it flying through the air and into the hands of Bill Clinton, who was watching in the stands.

NURSERY RHYME OF THE WEEK:

Ol' Marv Levy was a merry ol' soul, a merry ol' soul was he. He called for his game plan, and he called for his Super Bowl, and he called for his sackers three. And every sacker, he had a fine sack, and a very fine sack had he. "Down goes Troy, down goes Troy," went the sackers three. Oh, there's's none so rare as can compare with ol' Marv Levy and his sackers three!

MARV'S MAXIMS:

During the Coach's press conference, a couple days before the Super Bowl, Marv comes out sporting a World War I combat helmet and says, "My troops fought an uphill battle all year and when we were down 28-3 at half time against Houston, I used one of Winston Churchill's famous quotes to rally my troops: 'I have myself full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny! We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets. We shall never surrender!" This speech motivated my players! We came back and beat Houston against all odds and have made it to the Super Bowl for the third straight time!"
