The time period is right after the episode "The Breeding Center Secret." You know, the one with those weirdo's Butch and Cassidy? And just pretend Charzard listens to Ash and everyone can carry more than 6 Pokémon. You'll need to know that for later chapters. And I don't own them. Never have, never will... I take that back. I want to work at Nintendo so maybe I will someday partially own them. But first I have to finish school (I'm in 8th grade) then I have to go to college then I have to see if they'll accept me... too many details. Oh well. As of now, I don't own them. And there is use of censored profanity! Use your imagination to fill in the blanks.

"But these birds are special."
"Why?"
"Only one in existence of each."
"Wow."
"Zapdos is part electric, Articuno is part ice, and Moltres is part fire. And I'm gonna catch 'em all™!"
"Yeah right, Ash. You've barely got any Pokémon to begin with. The one's you do have aren't exactly rare. And anyway we'd probably get ourselves killed!"
"I hadn't thought of that..."
The Quest For Zapdos, chapter 1
It All Starts

It's late, around 1 AM, and Ash was up looking at his Pokédex. Ash turned the volume up a bit too much and woke up Misty. Which would be the previous conversation. Brock didn't wake up because, well, he slept like a rock. And Pikachu was too buried in his blankets to hear anything.
Of course, I agree completely with Misty on Ash being able to catch a Legendary Bird.
"Hey!"
It's true! ^_^
"I'll show both of you! After I catch the Legendary Birds, I'm gonna catch Mewtwo!"
"Ash! Shut up and go to sleep! We can talk about this tomorrow."
"I think you're right. Good night you two." Ash falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow.
Oh poo. Spoil all my fun.
"Shut up and come back when the sun's out."
Okay! Bye!
Under her breath, Misty states "She said that a bit too cheerfully..."
That morning at promptly 6:38, I come back. Wake up! Come on! Rise and shine!
"Wha?"
You told me to come back when the sun's out. And the sun fully rose about a minute ago.
"I hate you!"
You do? Well, guess what. You're stuck with me and you'll have to live with it.
"D*** it!"
No cursing! I'm trying to keep this G-rated!
"Well, @!#$& you!"
That is *not* G-rated.
"I know. If your going to make *my* life a living hell, I'm going to make your life a living hell!"
Ash starts to groggily wake up.
"What are you two doing?"
Nothing.
"Nothing."
"You two can do nothing pretty loud."
We were having a mature conflict.
"Yeah. What she said."
Brock very suddenly wakes up.
"Hey! What are you guys doing up so early?" He pauses to look at a clock he pulled from nowhere. "It's 7 AM."
"I woke up because Misty and the narrator were fighting."
"And the narrator very rudely woke me up."
You said come back when the sun was out. And I did! ^_^
"Would you two quit fighting! Plenty of time for that later."
Ash then proceeds to wake up Pikachu.
"Come on Pikachu, wake up! No sleeping in today!"
"Pi? Pika! Pi chu pika ka ka chu!"
"What did you say?"
I don't think Pikachu should try to translate that. Misty is already tring to destroy the G-rating of this.
"Oh. Anyway I need to tell Brock and Pikachu about the Legendary Birds."
Ash then tells them about the Legendary Birds. As for me and Misty...
"You! You are not going to do *anything* to destroy this! Got that!?"
Oh don't worry. I'd *never* do anything to hinder your progress.
Ash, Brock, and Pikachu all seem to be done. Ash starts beaming.
"Okay. So it's all set! We go to the Power Plant to search for Zapdos."
"What!? But that's a long ways away! Way don't we look for a closer one?"
"Well, Articuno *is* only at Seafoam Islands..."
"Then why don't we go there? We're almost to Cinnabar Island and Seafoam is on the way!"
"But, I want to get them in order! Meaning first Zapdos, then Articuno, then Moltres."
"But that's stupid!"
"Misty, he's gonna do it whether we like it or not. Just let him."
"Pika!"
"YOU! This is all your fault!"
Who? Me?
"Yeah, you! You put that idea into his head!"
Actually no. That's his own stupidness.
"I am not stupid!"
"Can we just get on with the story?"
*I* agree with Brock. I would personally like to know just what I'm doing with this.
"That's real reassuring."
Suddenly, a bush starts moving a bit. And even more suddenly, a very familiar blue-haired person gets flung out. She looks as though someone had dragged her through a mosh pit.
"Hey!"
What?
"You called me a she!"
Sorry. I just watched that particular part of the Aopulco episode. O_o Scary...
"..."
Jessie (the *real* female of the group) comes out dragging Meowth, who looks almost as bad as James.
"Now if you two hadn't have argued with me over best Pokémon, you two wouldn't look like that."
"NOW I HATE YOU EVEN MORE!!!!!!"
"Hey!" shrieks Jessie "We never actually *said* we hate you. And-"
"I'm not talking to you! I'm talking to the stupid narrator!"
If you'd like to know, Misty old pal, they were there since before I woke you up. They get up at about 5 AM to start following you. They usually don't get caught before... never mind...
"Never mind what? What about them don't you want us knowing?!"
Jessie quickly says to me through clenched teeth, "We had a deal. Don't blow it."
"What did you say to her?!"
"Nothing!"
"We mightas well tell em. Der gonna find out soona or lata anyway." Meowth and James have gotten up and, through the magical ways of animé, look perfectly fine. Or in Meowth's case, purr-fectly.
"Dat was bad."
I know.
James decides to start. "Well, ever since not too long after OWWW!!!!"
Jessie hit him with her mallet-pulled-from-nowhere.
"NOT YET!!"
"Whatever... you... say..."
"You're in with the author, right?"
"Yeah. Is there something wrong with that or do you want to know my mallet up close and personal too?"
"No! Uhhhh, you! Narrator person!"
Me? I thought you hated me.
"Well, not anymore."
Really?
"Under one condition."
Nothing comes free. Not too hard to guess though. You want to know their secret, right?
"Don't tell em don't tell em don't tell em!!!"
I wasn't going to anyway. I happen to like fighting with Misty. ^_^
"YOU ---------------------------------------------------!!!!!!!!!" Those words have been censored.
Everyone just stares at Misty. Including me.
"Misty, I didn't know you were capable of yelling or even *saying* those words." squeaks Ash.
"I wasn't until I met HER!"
I guess I have that effect on people.
"I'M GONNA-"
Keep this G-rated.
"That's why you have a censor."
Well...
Meanwhile, while me and Misty yell words that would make parents never let their kids out of the house till their 30, everyone else has sat done and started playing poker. No money, of course. Everyone's too broke to even think about that. They found a bunch of old Monopoly money in Ash's bag. If he can have a marker/microphone in there, he can have Monopoly money.
Oddly, James is beating everyone. Very good in fact.
"Royal flush?! No one gets a royal flush!"
And they check him for extra cards, which they find none. And they change the deck, which they didn't need to. Both for the eleventh time since they started.
"Fold." That was Jessie.
"Fold." This would be Brock.
"Fold.' And Ash.
"Pika." Obviously, Pikachu.
"Ha! I finally beat ya! Dere's no way you're gonna be able ta beat my straight flush! It's a 8, a 9, a 10, a Jack, and a Queen! Beat dat!"
James puts down his hand and we see a 9, a 10, a Jack, a Queen, and a King. Everyone facefaults from seeing this. And James takes his Monopoly money.
"Ya gotta be cheatin! I don't know how but you are!"
And so, they go through another James-checking and deck-changing for the thirty-seventh time. Yes, Ash had thirty-seven different decks of cards with him.
By this time, me and Misty have run out of words to say. And that's good, since the poker players have run out of money. Excluding James. If it were real, he'd have enough to buy a small country. Yes, Ash had *all* that Monopoly money with him.
"Well you're a... you're a... you're a... I can't think of anything..."
Well I can! You're a... you're a... you're a... I can't think of anything either...
"How about a temporary truce?"
That sounds good. Very temporary truce?
"Very temporary truce."
Good.
"Well, since you two are done fighting, I suppose we can tell you now. You see, we-"
And this is the end of part one!
"Hey! I didn't say it yet!"
Sorry Jess! But that's for next chapter!
"Fine! Be that way!"
"Can I eat something now? I only had *one* donut for breakfast."
Everyone suddenly realize they're very hungry. Except Jessie.
"I thought this chapter was over."
It is. I decided that you should all take a breakfast break until next chapter. So here.
Enough food to feed an army appears.
There. That should hold you over somewhat. You all like eating a lot, so it might not be enough. But for now, it's fine.
"Good let's eat!"
Everyone starts devouring the food. Except Jessie, who is sulking.
