Julianna in the "Vagina Monologues"- 8/27/00

Julianna was stunning. Can I tell you how gorgeous this woman is in real life? Gorgeous. I could not take my eyes off her. She has such a presence. So there I was in the very first row with the woman I worship sitting on a stool in front of me. I really don't usually get this way about celebrities. Only Julianna. Her hair looks much darker on TV. It looks black on the show, while here, under the lights it looked a tinted brown. And it was kinda frizzy curly as opposed to the waves and ringlets as she has on the show. Its also gotten longer. So anyway. At the beginning of the show they're discussing the word "vagina" and Julianna's saying it sounds like some medical term (instrument?) and goes, "Nurse! Bring me the vagina!" She pauses and looks at the audience expectantly, and it takes a second for the irony to register with the crowd before everyone erupts into a long, long laughter.
Julianna did the "Vagina workshop" monologue that Gloria Reuben did when she was in the show and let me tell you, she put Gloria to shame. She was so much funnier and got into it alot more. This was also the one with the British accent that Gloria was simply dreadful in attempting. I was thrilled to hear Julianna use her British accent for the first time in an extended period of time. My friend leaned over and whispered that she sounded like Alex Kingston. I guess since they both have the deeper throatier voice as opposed to like Kellie Martin or Ming-Na or whatever. So add the British accent and I guess in some parts she did sound a bit like Alex.
Julianna also had the monologue about women raped in the wars in the Middle East and in Bosnia. (Julia Stiles had this one last time I went) She had tears streaming down her face during this one.
And she had the orgasm/moaning monologue. Which is like one of the best ones and the funniest. She was friggin' hilarious. Julianna like you've never seen her before! So she gets to the "triple suprise orgasm" and I swear the audience is practically in tears, and by the time she's half way thru her triple orgasm and screaming "OH. MY. F---ING. GOD!!!!!!!!", the audience is roaring so loudly with laughter that I couldn't hear the rest of it at all. :Super Grin: When it finally dies down to a titter, Teri Garr pipes, "There's your Nurse Hathaway for ya!" And everyone goes back into a hysterical fit.
As for the others, Teri Garr was good and funny at parts, but I preferred Mary Testa who I saw last time. Sanaa Lathan had one of Gloria's monologues and did it so much better than Gloria did. Disappointing for me being a Gloria fan and all.
I didn't get to see Julianna afterwards. Teri Garr came out and the security guy claims Teri is the last one out and Julianna and Sanaa had gone. No one in the crowd believes him since no one saw either one of them leave and there aren't other exits to the theatre other than the 3 doors we were all facing. I hang around a while with my friend since no one else was leaving, but we got tired of it and just left since I'm seeing it again next weekend for these 3 actresses' last performance. So I hope to catch her then.
