Plot: Over the river and through the woods to sunny L.A. we go--for this tasty celebration of Thanksgiving food, memories and family fighting (which, for most, is as traditional as the turkey). Four intertwining stories set in ethnically diverse households reveal the different--yet very similar--ways families contend with the customs and conflicts of holiday gatherings. Director Gurinder Chadha spices this indie flick with dashes of humor and pinches of drama, mixing such hot topics as adultery, racism, politics and homosexuality into the pot. Sure, the many subplots take their time to simmer, but like the Turkey Day feast, the delicious payoff is worth the wait. Be warned, though: Make sure to eat beforehand--this film features some of the best food preparation scenes since Eat Drink Man Woman. And it satisfies just the same.
