Bath Salts
The Bath Salts will make a great gift. Keep your
eyes open for some unusual jars to use.
This project is rated AVERAGE to do.
What You Need:
- Large glass or metal mixing bowl
- 2 cups Epsoms salts
- 1 cup sea salt, rock salt or coarse salt
- Food coloring
- 1/4 tsp. glycerin
- Essential oil for fragrance such as vanilla,
citrus or peppermint, optional
- Clean, dry jars with cork stoppers or metal
screw-on lid
How To Make It:
Try and do this on a day with low humidity, the
salt will absorb moisture from the air. Combine
salts in bowl and mix well. Add a couple drops
of food coloring and mix well. Add glycerin and
essential oil (4 or 5 drops) and mix well.
Spoon salts into the jars and close them.
Make a gift tag with the scent (if you used one)
and suggesting using 1/3 to 1/2 cup in the bath.
Makes 3 cups of bath salts.
Beaded Napkin Holder
A great gift idea for Mom!
You need:
- White, Green, and Pink Pony Beads
- Green Paint
- Six Plastic Drinking Straws
- Tacky Glue
- 3" x 5" Wooden Blank
- Cardboard (optional)
Instructions:
Paint wooden blank Green. Let dry.
Use tacky glue to secure a row of eleven white
pony beads 1/2" from side edge of wooden blank.
Glue them side-to-side with no space in between.
Glue another row of 11 beads 1/2" from the other
side. Let dry.
Cut plastic drinking straws in half. Split each
piece in half lengthwise. Put a dab of glue in
each bead on your wooden blank. Place one of
your straw pieces in the first bead. Push 13
white beads onto the straw. Place a dab of glue
inside another bead and add to top. Trim straw.
Continue using pattern show above. Repeat for
other side. Place a dab of glue on the sides of
the top beads to hold them together.
For more support, glue a piece of cardboard to
the insides of the beads.
