Collect orange, apple, grapefruit, lemon or lime
seeds.
Soak seeds for a day or two. Fill several
planters or plastic containers with potting
soil and place three or four seeds in each
one about 1/2 inch deep. Water and place in
a sunny spot. Wait, and watch grow.
Growing garlic:
Garlic clove
Potting soil
Small pot
Place an unpeeled garlic clove in potting soil,
pointed end up. Cover with potting soil. Keep
in the sun and water evey few days.
Lima Bean Sprouts:
Lima beans
Shallow dish
Water
Place lima beans in a shallow dish and fill with
waters. Place dish in a sunny window. Watch daily
as beans sprout.

Sweet Potato Vine:
Sweet potato
Toothpicks
Glass of water
String
Insert three toothpicks in the sides of an old
sweet potato. Set it in a glass of water with
the toothpicks resting on the edge of the
glass. The water should just touch the potato.
Put the glass in a spot that has filtered
sunlight. Pin some string to a nearby wall, or
build a mini-trellis so vine can grow up it.
Carrots and Beets:
Carrots or beets
Shallow dish
Water
Small pot
Potting soil
Cut two inches off the top of a carrot or beet.
Set cut side down in a shallow dish with about
1/2 inch of water. Change the water frequently.
When roots appear plant cut side down in potting
soil. Moisten and set in a sunny window. Keep
moist.
Avocado Tree:
Avocado seed
Pot
Potting soil
Dry an avocado seed for a few days. Peel the brown
skin off the seed once dry. Plant about 2/3 down
in pot of soil - leave pointed tip exposed until
seed germinates (about 30-90 days). Keep in full
sun, or well-watered in a dark cupboard for a
stronger root system. When it starts to grow,
pinch off new growth.
