COCOON

You left me wrapped

In gossamer dreams of eternity

A cocoon I never wanted to escape

And now you've come back

To rip away the silky fabric

And expose my tender skin

To the light of the shriveling sun

My heart on a platter

You dig in, cut yourself a slice

And spit it out

It's not to your liking

Overcooked or under

I'll never know

All I know is Im shattered

And the one who could put me back together

Is busy cocooning another

For a season of sweet dreaming.
