BRADFORD LUFKIN: mustered in on July 15, 1861, as a Corporal, Company I, 6th Regiment, Maine Infantry; reduced to Private in 1862; discharged on Oct. 27, 1862. His residence at muster-in was given as “Anoka, Min.”
IRISON BRIGGS PETTINGILL: mustered in on Sept. 29, 1862, as a Private, Company I, 23rd Regiment, Maine Infantry (a nine months regiment); died of small pox in Lock, Md., on Mar. 21, 1863.
REUEL WILLIAMS SOULE: enlisted as a Private at Phillips, Me., on Oct. 13, 1862, in Company D, 28th Regiment, Maine Infantry (a nine months regiment); mustered in at Augusta, Me., on Oct. 18, 1862; promoted to Sergeant in Nov. 1862; mustered out on Aug. 31, 1863. Biographical Sketches of Representative Citizens of the State of Maine, published in 1903, reports that “He was promoted to Sergeant, having been previously postmaster of the regiment. He was at the siege of Port Hudson and in other engagements, serving one year.”
