I figured at this point, we were south of 130th Street. We're closing in on the Van Wyck interchange. More cargo areas ahead. No shortage of those around JFK. After passing the JFK Expressway, the Nassau begins to behave like a boulevard, stopping for lights and crossing streets. HEAVENS! |
The South Conduit conscious service roaders must now get on the Nassau bandwagon just before Van Wyckus interruptus takes place. Of all the jets I caught in the air, this American Airlines job was the only one to come out identifiable. How annoying. Below is a closer view of the goings on just before the Van Wyck ramps take off. The first of a gaggle of airport related hotels can be seen on the right peeking out from behind the trees. |
The shot below faces westbound. Not too many bigloops surviving this curvaceous section. And here they come around the stretch! Like a bunch of racehorses from nrearby Aqueduct Raceway, these hot rodders are steaming towards the Van Wyck. Full speed ahead while you can boys! Nobody likely to do much speeding on the VW. This is as much like a traffic jam as anything is ever likely to look on the Nassau west of JFK. All shot 10/99. |
