Nassau Expwy at Cohancy St.
Everybody's well on their way, the one and only way anyway, on the nascent stretches of the eastbound Nassau Expressway. We're facing east from the Cohancy Street overpass, not more than a couple of blocks east of the Nassau's beginnings. To be absolutely truthful, it's really not clear whether you are really on the Nassau yet at this point. South Conduit Blvd may well lay claim to this stretch, but for all intent and purpose, anybody on these lanes at this point is on a indesputable limited access highway, even if it is only one way and in the coin toss as to which road gets credit for such a stretch, I think its heads Nassau wins, tails Conduit loses.

Although it's October (1999), the leaves haven't really turned yet. It's just the late afternoon sun playing games. The train rumbling overhead is most probably the A subway line, heading north towards Liberty Avenue from the Rockaways or Cross Channel. Those on the Nassau in this area are given several chances to change their minds and get back onto Conduit, assuming they really left it. These vehicles have all come directly from Conduit Blvd west of Cross Bay Blvd, essentially following the route the never built Cross Brooklyn Expressway would've taken.
