Nassau Expwy at Lefferts Blvd.
Photo Gallery: Nassau Expwy Scenes

east
south
We're sneaking a peeky at the Nassau around its Lefferts Blvd. overpass, the top view facing east, the bottom facing west, the tiny shot to the left showing some southside overpass detail and the little shot directly above us facing south towards the Nassau on Lefferts Blvd. One of JFK Airport's cargo areas and parking lots in behind the underpass. The overhead directional is telling us to turn left for South Conduit, onto a ramp unseen to the left of the maroon SUV heading towards us. Actually it's to our left and the SUV's right. The next left, after passing under the Nassau just before the airport is the Pseudo Conduit that ultimately just ramps itself onto the Nassau just before reaching the Van Wyck. Conduit crazy motorists can also get on the Nassau that way, pass over the Van Wyck and then pick up the real South Conduit past the Airport. By then of course, they may not want to be on Conduit anymore. By the way, is the real South Conduit an Avenue or a Boulevard? Will somebody please tell that road to make up its lousy mind already, who it is, what it is, where it is and why it is whatever it is that it is!
Also, given that going in this direction also leads directly into one expressway, soon to link up with two more, the Van Wyck and JFK Expressways, not to mention another entrance for the Belt Pkwy, why is there only one tinyheaded directional, hinged all the way at the far end of an oversized mastarm, informing us of relatively unimportant South Conduit? It's important issues such as this that leaves me sleepless at night. I need a wife VERY BADLY!

The long ramp coming into the Nassau from the eastbound Belt has just merged with the main road just in time to cross over Lefferts.

Here's a closer view of the on-ramp merge from the Belt exit. The overpass in the background carries the ramp. The Belt is unseen to the right behind the trees. Shot in 10/99.
