Woodside Photo Gallery: Queens Blvd |

70th Street descends towards a rendezvous with the Long Island Railroad it passes beneath a couple of blocks down. Some of the buildings on the right might date from the 19th century; anybody remember that? Their windows have certainly seen some incredible changes take place along the 12 lane highway to their north, but on their own street, save for the people, lights, stores and cars, not much of anything has changed. |
Looking east with enough of a vista, the distant LeFrak City tower on Junction Boulevard still dominates the background. |
45th Avenue comes down a sharp hill at an equally precarious angle, but does not continue across the boulevard as did 51st Avenue. Instead, it breaks southward into 70th Street at a benign 90 degree cut. Up ahead, the Woodside LIRR trestle, Brooklyn Queens Expwy, and the Woodside Cooperatives on the left. The little orange light on the right signifies the presence of a fire alarm box at the corner. |
