Eastbound, the Whitestone reaches exit 14, Linden Place, the shopping center for much of the Whitestone neighborhood. |
Visible in the background is the red, white and blue facade of an award winning New York Times facility. It is one of the structures lining the westbound service road that fill in the old Flushing Airport gap. |
We've just passed over Linden Place, heading for 20th Avenue. Despite being in what was a two fare transit zone, until 1998, Whitestone developed a high concentration of apartment houses. Most of the inhabitants of these buildings crowd the Parsons Blvd busses for the hop into the Main Street subway terminal. Shot 2/99. |
