These pick scratches are done over the 3rd fret to produce harmonics that
create a more melodic sound for the riff. 

(I think there are a couple of variations on this riff, and I am not sure
if this is exactly how the riff goes, but it is VERY close)

while gradually releasing palm pressure at the end of the phrase)

These aren't exact but it should give you an idea of what's going on in
the background.

On the second or third chorus, the riff is doubled by another guitar
playing the riff an octave higher as well.


Towards the end of the chorus, a Eb5 chord is strummed a couple of times
for the transition back to the next verse.
