The Living Environment
“Observe and describe cell division at the microscopic level and its microscopic effects.”
- In mulitcellular organisms, celldivision is responsible for growth, maintanance, and repair. In some one-celled organisms, cell division is a methid of asexual reproduction.
- Mitosis- cell divison where the chromosomes are duplicated and then separated into two cells. Identical genetic information is passed from one organism to the other.
- Meiosis-cell division which produces either a sperm or egg cell. Each with 1/2 of the genetic information.
- Cancer is a type of abnormal/uncontrolable cell growth.
