Katan was once a bodiless grigori, but he was given form by Rosiel, and raised to the rank of Cherub. He was also given the name Katan which means “one who leads”. Since then, he has been intensely loyal and devoted to Rosiel. It was Katan who freed his master from imprisonment in the earth using black magic disguised in the form of the game "Angel Sanctuary" to siphon energy from the minds and souls of psychically gifted humans. Katan, however, is a kind and gentle man, and he often tries to dissuade Rosiel from his more extreme courses, but his advice has little effect. Rosiel dislikes Katan’s disobedience, and is constantly trying to force him to swallow a feather that will make him an unquestioning slave. But, Katan always refuses. If he does that, Katan says, Rosiel will destroy the one person who truly loves him.
