This Months' Featured Lure! Staying in Manhattan another month for a lure made by another little know company called Surf Tackle Company. This lure is a beautiful gray/silver scale colored Flaptail, with a sloped head. (Thanks again Sal for the use of your picture and lure). Almost identical to a earlier Charlie Russo flaptail in body shape, they were made around (circa) 1947. Most are marked Surf Tackle Co. on the belly in red. I've only seen three colors, the one pictured, a two tone blue and white and a blue scale. Three body types were made, the above flaptail, a metal lipped swimmer and a popper. All are approximately 8 inches long. Surf Tackle Co. pieces are definitely one of the tougher lures to acquire, I don't have any in my collection as of yet. I also don't have any other information on the company. The above box is one of two that I'm personally aware of and the body styles listed are the only ones that I've seen.
