Mergers are big in the business world.  When you buyout your competition and take over an industry it’s called a merger.  There are mergers in every part of business, for example: sports entertainment, television channels, automobile companies and other big businesses.

When mergers occur there's lots of money changing hands many employees are being terminated, and lots of changes have happened in the regular world.  Big name companies such as AOL Time Warner, Walt Disney co., and Vivendi universal, have a big say.  These individual companies are decreasing, and fewer people are in charge, and only a small amount of people make decisions about what we see and her on TV, radio and the internet.

WWF, a sports entertainment company merged with WCW, another wrestling company and also it's rival in television ratings.  If you don't watch WCW, you watch WWF.  Vince McMahon is going to benefit from this merger because of ratings and more money in his pocket because of the great move.

When mergers occur there's lots of money being moved around and also many of employee's lives are being delt with.  For example some are terminated, some are ask to move closer to the new owners one so they can be productive.

Mergers are happening more because lots of large companies are being bought out or they're just losing money.  In the 90's there have been many mergers tat has changed the U.S. as well as the global marketplace.

Mergers affect the lives of employees, it changes what the world is allowed to see, use and buy, and the money is huge, and it's becoming more of a trend during this day and age.
