Directions
From U.S. route 74 (Great Smoky Mountains Parkway), take Exit 67 to Bryson City. Follow the signs to Deep Creek Campground, which is about 3 miles north of the city on Deep Creek Road. The road dead-ends just past the campground at a parking lot. This is the same parking lot used for the walk to Juneywhank Falls. Follow the wide gravel trail at the north end of the parking lot.
Description
Deep Creek is obviously not a waterfall. However, cascades are sometimes just as, or even more, beautiful than waterfalls. In fact, Deep Creek is one of the best examples of this. The trail follows right along the stream. Along the way, several beautiful little cascades are passed, like the one pictured above. In addition, eighty foot Tom's Branch Falls plunges into Deep Creek through dense foliage about 3/10 of a mile from the parking area. After about a mile, a turn to the right across a bridge will bring you to beautiful sixty foot high Indian Creek Falls. The walk to this point takes only about 15 minutes, as the trail is quite flat and easy. For a photo of Indian Creek Falls, go here.
