Directions

To reach the Moss Glen Falls pictured here, just drive on Vermont Route 100, north of Granville, and it will be on the west side of the road. The falls are in fact directly at the side of the road. The parking area is just north of the falls, and a boardwalk leads you back to a viewing area at the base of the falls.

Description

The falls are indeed very beautiful, but the fact that they are right at the side of the road, and viewing is restricted to a fenced in platform, does take a bit away from Moss Glen Falls. For one, it is difficult to shoot pictures from almost all angles, unless you want the conspicous boardwalk or platform in your photo. Also, the falls is obviously well visited, being so easily accesible. Then there is the car noise that almost overpowers the sound of the waterfall. If it weren't for all of these things, and Moss Glen Falls was in the midst of the forest, it would probably be more worthy of a beauty rating of 9/10. However, it is still a worthwhile trip to take in this 45 foot falls.

Apparently a lot of injuries and deaths have occurred here, which explains the drastic lengths gone to in attempts to limit any further accidents. Please don't climb the waterfall, as your stupidity could lead to even more limits in the beauty and enjoyment of Moss Glen Falls. Besides, there's not much purpose in such an endeavor anyway.

There is another little waterfall right at the start of the boardwalk. It has a lot less volume, but is about as tall as Moss Glen Falls itself. It seems like some people don't even notice this little falls, so be sure not to miss it.
