After a long break it was nice to "kick it" with so many friends at Sweeney's. We had new gear, new songs and even got a handful of new 'friends' for the mailing list. Like we said in a previous email.. WG brings people together... and the pic below is living proof!



We took a month off to learn some new tunes. Even that was hard! Everything on local radio pretty much sucks!!! (Come on WRRV how many times can we hear "Little Black Back Pack" ) So we squeezed out a song by Jimmy Eat World, played some old Better Than Ezra, punked an old Cheap Trick tune, and even brought brought back a Social D song we played three years ago. But the big surprise was that half the bar knew the chorus to "Danny's Song". For those who just had to know who wrote that song (all three of you!)...nope it wasn't Elton John, Billy Joel or Joan Baez. It wasn't even folk king James Taylor (Although I even thought it was him).
It was The AMAZING, Grammy Award Winning, Supa Star Canadian Kenny Loggins...

Yup, we've punked some crazy songs in the past... "Country Roads" (John Denver), "Suspicious Minds" (Elvis) even "I Will Survive" (Gloria Gaynor). But right now we're so starved for good songs on the radio that we're reduced to punking out tunes from the guy who wrote the themes to "CaddyShack" and "Footloose". What's next? Songs by Burt Bacharach. Even Ed was cross-eyed over that one.



But we do have some new updated tunes for our next gig March 2nd at The Downtown, in Middletown, NY. Foo Fighters, Puddle of Mud... and a few shout outs for those who showed up this past Saturday. Ed & Tammy, Alan, Damon & Magical Liz,.... Niss, Lauren & Richard, Brother Bob, Dana, Jennielynn, Erin, Hill, Mindy, from RI Lindsey and Jacob, from Jersey Nick and his crew... Okey for jumping over the bar on Sum 41, Tony and Lupe for keeping things orderly... and anyone who's name we missed come down to the Downtown on March 2nd with a friend... no, wait, make that two friends and let us know that you're really mad!!!
