Willow and Xander walked out of the museum, their two faces sharing the same deeply downtroddenlook. The vampire following them merely looked annoyed. Willow sighed. "Great. No Word of Valios." Xander snorted. "Not even a syllable of Valios." Spike continued their depressing monologue. "Which means I'm one step closer to melting in a sea of molten hellfire, yeah?" Actually, the vampire seemed oddly cheered by the concept. Harboring an unlady-like grunt of annoyance (cause she sure as hell wasn't going to show the vamp that he was getting to her), Willow turned to Spike. "You shouldn't talk like that. Yeah, okay, so you can't kill anymore, but there are other fun things you can do. You'll adjust." She tried her best to put some good ol' Rosenburg cheer into the reassurance. Snarling, the bleached blond turned on her. "Adjust?" he spat. "And what? End up like the two of you? No, thank you." He turned back around and started walking, trying to maintain some dignity despite the short pants and Hawaiian shirt he had on. Xander narrowed his eyes, then turned to Willow with a pointed look. "Here it goes. 'We can't just leave him to stake himself. It's not right.' " Willow rolled her eyes. Spike turned back to them again, flinging out his arms. "You know, I think you two would be glad to meet the end of days! I mean, neither one of you is making a go at it." He pointed to Xander. "You. Kids your age are going off to University. You've made it as far as the basement." He let that sink in, trying not to show his happiness as Xander's eyes glittered with anger or tears. Spike let a cruel grin grace the curving lines of his face, then he turned to Willow. "And Red here...you couldn't even keep Dog-boy happy." There. Those were definitely tears in the girl's eyes. But for some reason, Spike wasn't getting the high out of it that he usually did. He continued on, trying to find his happy. "You can take the loser out of high school, but..." Willow overcame the hurt she felt with a shivery breath. As he turned on his heel, she went after him, Xander following close behind. "I see what you're doing. You're trying to get us to dust you." Enraged, Spike gaped at the two teens. He wasn't that much of a nancyboy! If he wanted to be staked, he'd do it himself. Or at least have the bloody Slayer do it; die with some dignity. "Am not! I just don't want pity from geeks more useless than I am." Uh-oh. There it was. That was definite fury in the little girl's eyes. She was practically snarling, and Spike welcomed the fight, although she did kind of have the advantage, her actually bein' able to fight and all... Shit. She was yelling at him now, her eyes filled with a bright green flame. "We're not useless! We--we help people. We fight the forces of evil." She seemed so earnestly set on that that Spike just had to knock her down. He chuckled. "Buffy fights the forces of evil. You're her groupies." Willow's eyes swirled again at that, and he continued on. "She'd do just as well without you--better, I'd wager, since she wouldn't have to go about saving your hides all the time." Xander, who had been standing in the background the whole time, finally jumped in. "That is not true! We're part of the team. She needs us." And once again, that faithfulness in himself, that he was doing the right thing. But at least he wasn't just standing back, letting Willow take all the abuse anymore. Watching pain distort her features just made him feel...well, he'd never felt it before, but he was pretty sure that he felt guilty. Watching Xander in pain, however, was just...neat. He rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Or you're just the same tenth grade losers you've always been, and she's too much of a softy to cut you loose." The two teenagers were speechless. Oddly satisfied (and even more oddly, a little guilty) he smirked and walked quickly away from the pair. They deserved it, after all, after those things they'd said about him. Well, that Xander had said about him, anyway. Willow had just... well, she... He was sure that he could come up with some bad thing that she had done to him, although since when had he needed to site revenge as an excuse to be an asshole? Since when did he need an excuse to be an asshole? He was still pondering this when Willow strode right up to him and threw him against a nearby tree. He cringed. "What in the bloody hell do you think you're doing? I can't fight back," he whined. She was seething. "I don't care," she spit out through clenched teeth. "Honestly! You are the most useless, egotistical, annoying bastard of a vampire I've ever met! I like Angelus better, " she threw at him, smirking when his mouth opened in shock. "Now wait a bloody minute--" "At least he could keep a girl," she interrupted him. "I mean, she did choose him over you, right? And then, oh God!" She burst out laughing and Spike gaped at her, offended. "What? What?!" he asked again when she just kept laughing. Her smile was now wide and confident. Actually, even a little bit?sexy. With all that fire in her eyes. She began to speak again. "I was just thinking, at least my boyfriend cheated on me with someone attractive. Not some sort of fungus demon," she emphasized. "Or Chaos demon," she added saucily, pleased at the anger in his blue-gray eyes. He just stared at her for a second, his eyes still wide and shocked. Willow began to get nervous, and was about to speak when... He grabbed her. With one hand on the back of her neck and the other on her hip, he swung her around til her back was to the tree. "What are you?" Her voice was cut off by his lips. "Mrah my un...ahhh..." Willow relaxed into the kiss, happy not to be thinking about Oz for the first time in months. *** Xander peered warily around a rather large tree. Willow and Spike had disappeared about ten minutes ago, and now he wasn't sure who he was truly afraid for. Sure, Spike was a soulless demon, but he couldn't really harm anyone in his present condition. But Willow...she had been pissed, no doubt about that. He heard a noise behind a bush and went to investigate. Sure enough, Willow and Spike were kissing like mad, looking like neither of them didn't need to breath, not just one of them. Xander sighed and backed off. "Well, I guess I owe Buffy some money now..." |
