Summary: Spike gets a visitor
Spike jumped to alertness as he heard a sharp rap at the door. He groaned, throwing the covers off him and reaching for a pair of pants. < Probably the bloody Slayer, > he grumbled to himself. Since he had drunkenly confessed his feelings for someone (thank heavens he hadnt been drunk enough to admit that it was Willow), shed been nosing around his unlife like a damned dog. If he didnt know any better, hed think they were friends.
"Oh shit." They were friends. How could he not have noticed it? All the fighting and the hatred between him and the Slayer had degenerated into friendly teasing and a grudgingly given respect. The Slayer was his friend. "Oh bloody hell." Although, there were worst people to be friends with.
The knocking at his door became more insistent, and he swore, stomping through the living room and over to the door quickly. He threw it open. "Dammit Slayer, you could have" The complaint died in his throat as he saw the girl on his doorstep.
It was Willow. However, her usually alive green eyes were bloodshot, weary, and red-rimmed. It was obvious she had been crying. Her mouth was swollen, as though shed been biting it, and the look on her face he found his own eyes filling with tears.
He stepped forward, gasping in unnecessary breaths. Whoever had done this to her was going to die. "What happened, pet?" he asked, his voice husky in his throat.
As she opened her mouth to speak, a shuddering breath accompanied it. "Oz," she said, tears beginning to make their way down her face again. "I found him with with "
She didnt have to finish. He knew: the bitch.
"Oh, baby "
That set her off, into full-fledged sobs. His own face crumbled and he took her into his arms, delighting in her warmth, the feel of him against her, but hating her tears, hating the man who caused them.
As she sobbed into his shoulder, he could dimly make out the word she said.
"You were .the only person I wanted to see "
THE END
