Gnarled Root Dungeon

By: Andrew

1. Start by heading to the northern chamber, and move the upper right block to open the doors. Visit the right room first and kill all the Stalfos for a Small Key. Return to the previous room.

2. The room above features an old guy that gives tips to help for those stupid people out there. Travel west and unlock the door using the key. Kill the Stalfos to reveal a Dungeon Map in the chest, as well as to unlock the door in the north.

3. Take out the red bouncy things, and hop on the railroad cart. When you come to a stop, hop off and go up the stairs.

4. Flip the switch to change the railroad path and grab the Compass from the chest. Kill off the enemies in this room. Now, run across the moving spikes and move the center block.

5. Continue your journey westward. Then move the block down, left, down and left again. That should get you through the migraine-causing block puzzle. Grab the prize (freakin’ Gasha Seed) from the chest and hop off the edge and return to the previous room.

6. Hop on the cart again and it should take you to a new room in the east. During your short ride, you may have noticed a chest. When you hop off, return to this chest to find 10 Bombs waiting for you.

7. Move up the stairs and left. Then make your way around to get to the Small Key that appears when you step on the floor switch.

8. Head back and go the opposite direction until you come to a faint crack in the wall. Bomb it and continue.

9. This next area consists of a whole room full of a moving spikes along the narrow corridors. Be careful and take shelter in the inlets. At the top, use your key to unlock the door.

10. Defeat the Twin Minotaurs and go through the door.

11. Move the left-most block. Climb the ladder down to the catacombs and up the other. At the end is a Seed Satchel that can hold all your seeds for you.

12. Go back up the ladder and push the block below the left-most one down to get out of this block imprisonment. Teleport yourself back to the entrance using the whirling thing that appeared when you defeated the mini- boss.

13. Use the Ember Seeds and light the torches. Defeat all the Moblins in exchange for the Boss Key.

14. Return to the previous room. Travel south to the room where you got your Dungeon Map.

15. Defeat the Stalfos and move the top right block. Then, continue right. Use ember seeds on the unlit torches to open the door.

16. The boss is coming up and so, if you're low on life, slash the bushes to get hearts and other stuff.

17. In the next room, Wall Masters will emerge from the floor and attempt to grab you. Don't let them or else you'll embark on a trip back to the entrance, which would really suck for you. Take the ring from the chest in the upper left and continue moving.

18. When you finally reach a door with a skull inscribed on it, you'll know by common sense that this is the door that leads you to the boss' lair. Enter to meet Aquamentus, the boss thing (Reminds me of the dragon boss that shows up often in the Zelda for NES). This thing has two attacks: Charging at you and blowing these ring-like projectiles at you. The quick and easy way to kill it is to attack the horn embedded on its head. You'll have to work around his attacks and move in when it's right. This isn't too tough.

18. Once it is defeated, get the heart container, then get the fertile soil, and your done. If you fell proud of yourself, don’t because this is only the first level and it’s only a Game Boy game.
