PRIVATE ETHELBURT JELLYBACK--Private Jellyback is our oldest and longest serving ROUGHNECK, having joined the unit on November 27th, 1917 as a figment of
Private Charles Devine's imagination. Although a noted intellectual with an impeccable 5th Avenue, high society lineage, he has remained a private for 90 years, which is undoubtedly a record. His ideas and observations on Army and camp life have been entertaining the ROUGHNECKS who know him for all those years. His best friend is Private Jim Mugrams with whom he often puts his ideas into practice. Although we haven't seen Private Jellyback in a few years we're sure he's still working out some ideas and will show up when he's darn good and ready. Old Soldiers are like that, you know.
