Hiawatha's Laika O'Pinelands, CGC, WTD, WWPD, IWPA-WD

*April 24, 1993 - September 19, 2006*
Laika was our 2nd born. She was the complete opposite of Keannu, the first born. Laika was sweet yet tough, a hard worker, quick learner and had the ability to conquer anything she tried to do. Laika was an awesome weightpuller earning three IWPA Region 5 medals in her short career, was our longest running sled team leader until she decided to retire, was a Canine Good Citizen and is just all around tough as nails. She was also a true Alpha female making her presence known wherever she went!

Laika At Four Years Of Age

Laika was a typical Malamute. She's very smart, clever even, able to climb chain link fences, open crates and think things through before doing it. She excelled at obedience commands and dabbled in agility too, which she aced right away. She was something special and the reason why Malamutes aren't for everyone!

Laika Weightpulling

This picture represents the drive and heart Laika had. She proved herself over & over again. Had we not spayed her because we just wanted a pet at the time, she probably would have passed her "working genes" on to her kids. At 10 1/2 years of age Laika competed in a large weightpull class at the 2003 National Specialty and came in 4th!!! She's that tough!!
