On November 21, 1995, Bruce released the solo acoustic folk album "The Ghost Of Tom Joad". The album didn't do well in sales, only selling to his most loyal fans, but it did do well with the critics. It also earned Bruce a Grammy Award for "Best Contemporary Folk Album." In the fall of 1997, Bruce would start work on a new acoustic album, but Columbia feared it wouldn't sell and the album never gets released.
