~MARC STEVEN DARBY~

MARC LIVES ON IN OUR MEMORIES
AND IN OUR HEARTS

~BORN TO EARTH~
MARCH 25, 1986

~BORN TO HEAVEN~
DECEMBER 12, 1998

BELOVED SON OF:
STEVE & LORI DARBY

BELOVED BROTHER OF:
CODY, AUSTIN, & BENJAMIN

Marc was severely handicapped and was diagnosed at birth with cerebral palsy and a severe heart condition.  He was a very happy child who hardly ever complained about anything.  I never heard him say "Mama" or anything at all because he never spoke a word.  He never took his first step because he could not walk.  But oh the love that my child brought from Heaven with him.

The happiest day of my life is when I found out that I was pregnant with Marc.  He was wanted so very much.  And the love I felt when the Dr. put him in my arms and I heard his cry.

The next day we were told that Marc was very sick and would be severely handicapped.  We were crushed...to say the least.  But all we wanted was our precious little boy to come home with us.  Marc went through several surgeries including open-heart.  He was so strong and through it all he remained very pleasant and happy.  The nurses fell in love with him always...he was a looker and a lover.  Marc inspired us that we can all handle what life dishes out.

Marc was very healthy for most of his 12 1/2 years here on earth.  After 11 years he began developing some lung problems and they slowly deteriorated.  On December 12, God said,  "Marc, it is time for you to come home and be free of this diseased body, Mom and Dad and your brothers will be fine, I will help them and never leave them...come home son."  We were very sad when Marc left us and still today miss our boy so very much but know that we will all be together in Heaven some day.

We have many many happy memories of Marc.  He was a true blessing and a joy.  He loved life here even though he had to live it in a wheelchair.Marc enjoyed his school so very much and boy did those wonderful people love him too...they made him so happy and I will always be grateful to them for taking such good care of Marc and loving him so much.  He loved his bus rides to school daily and he would get so excited when he heard it coming down the road.  Marc's life was as full as could be.

Marc made us all grow spiritually and helped bring us closer to God. He showed us what is really important in this life, and how each other matters the most and how we can pass on the love and courage that we learned with life experiences. We can turn a tragedy into triumph.  We can turn pain into joy by letting God control our hearts.  Marc showed us the way.  What a big job for such a little boy.  A job well done.

I love you my son...always.

This is my dad with Marc when Marc was 16 months old.  Marc is his first grandchild, my dad loved Marc so very much and Marc loved his Grandpa too, now they are together again in Heaven, able to fish, go to ball games, play catch, and all the things that kids love to do with their grandpas. I love you Dad and Marc...have fun in heaven."

~DEDICATED TO MARC STEVEN DARBY~
~MARC'S SPECIAL GIFT~

A special gift from Heaven
For all the world to see
Child with special beauty
Caring as could be

Through years of pain he grew
With a smile upon his face
A gentle heart to show
Such beauty with such grace

The years he lived though short
Were filled with so much joy
Love and understanding
Taught by the heart of a little boy

Singing all his praises
When his gentle sould arrived
Wheelchair now on earth
Marc runs with joy and pride

Hands reached out to greet him
Running on his way
Heart so very happy
Jesus smiled that day

Marc I have been waiting
You have a special task
You'll be my special messenger
Your running shoes at last

Jesus touched his little feet
Like magic there appeared
The finest pair of sneakers
With golden wings adhered

Marc looked up to Jesus
With the biggest broadest smile
Laughed and said with a special grin
I'll race you for a mile

So now above the clouds
Footsteps in the sky
Marc & Jesus laughing
Racing way on high

Marc will look from Heaven
Bless all those he loved so
With special gifts of sneakers
No where he cannot go

~A MOTHER'S LOVE~
~Helen Steiner Rice~

A mother's love is something
that no one can explain
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain.
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may,
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away

It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking.
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gem...

It is far beyond defining
it defies all explanations,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation....
A many splendored miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
Of God's tender guiding hand.

~DEAR CHILD IN HEAVEN~
~Author Unknown~

You were a blessing to us all,
You were a special child,
And we're so glad God sent you
To be with us for awhile

You filled our home with happiness
And made our life complete
The time we had with you
Was far too short, but oh so sweet

Some things we don't find easy
To accept or understand
'Till we realize they're part of
Our Creator's perfect plan

Now it comforts us to know
You're with the angels up above,
While in our hearts we hold you close
Surrounded by our love

~ANGELS AMONG US~
~ALABAMA~

I was walking home from school on a cold winter day
Took a short cut through the woods and I lost my way
It was gettin' late I was scared and alone
Then a kind old man took my hand and led me home
Mama couldn't see him though he was standing there
But I knew in my heart he was the answer to my prayer

Oh I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live to teach us how to give
To guide us in the light of love

When life held troubled times and had me down on my knees
There's always been someone to come along and comfort me
A kind word from a stranger to lend a helping hand
A phone call from a friend just to say they understand
Now ain't it kind of funny at the dark end of the road
Someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope

Oh I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live to teach us how to give
To guide us in the light of love

They wear so many faces
Show up in the strangest places
To grace us with their mercy in our time of need

Oh I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live to teach us how to give
To guide us in the light of love
