SUSIE OUTSIDE
THE CHURCH AT HER FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
WITH TWO OF
HER SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSMATES
BELOVED
DAUGHTER OF:
CATHIE
W. & JOHN F.
Susie
was the most beautiful baby in the world! She had big blue
eyes and a
smile that could win anyone over, especially her father
when she'd
done something wrong! She was an only child since
after she
was born I was no longer able to have children, and so
she was very
spoiled and loved by her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Susie
was very outgoing and made friends easily. She loved to dance and took
ballet and tap dancing lessons. She also enjoyed singing and she and her
cousins would put on plays
together for
the rest of our tight-knit extended family. We were
very close,
and I absolutely adored her.
~SUSIE ON
HER FIRST BIRTHDAY~
In
July of 1989, a month before she would have turned 10, Susie
went to the
next door neighbor's house. When she didn't return
when she said
she would, I went over to find her. I knocked on the neighbor's door, and
she told me she hadn't seen Susie. I ran around the back of her house in
a panic, and found Susie in their pool. I frantically pulled her out of
the water. She was not breathing and had no pulse. I performed CPR on her
while the neighbor called 911. Neither I, nor the paramedics were able
to revive her. Susie was a good swimmer. I couldn't understand how she
had drowned. Later on the coroner told me that she had a bump on
her head. She must have slipped and fell, been knocked unconscious, and
fallen into the water.

PETTING ZOO
WITH SOME SHEEP
Slowly,
I have recovered. My marriage didn't survive, but John
and I have
remained friends. I have remarried to a wonderful man
who loves
Susie without ever having met her. He and I decided to
become foster
parents and now have up to five abused and neglected children living with
us at any given time. The heartache never goes away. There are still days
that I miss Susie so much that I fall to my knees sobbing. But most of
the time the pain is become softer, and I have learned to comfort myself
with the nearly 10 years of happy memories I have of my little girl.
~TEARS~
Written by:
Cathie W.
I find them
hidden everywhere
In forgotten
places they are there.
In the laundry
where your shirts should be
In the darkness
where my eyes can't see.
In the
store with popsicles you won't eat
In your
shoes that no longer hold your feet.
In the scent
of the teddy you'll never hold
On the jacket
you wore when it got cold.
I find them
and they break my heart
And tear my
grieving soul apart.
On the cups
that used to touch your lips
On the tutu
that once hugged your hips.
Inside the
plastic crayon box
You played
with when you had chicken pox.
On the tissues
I used on your runny noses
Out in the
garden in the bed of roses.
They fill my
lungs till I have to scream
They fall
from my eyes even when I dream.
So I weep,
and the worst thing that I fear
Is without
you there'll be no end to the tears.
~DEAR
CHILD IN HEAVEN~
~Author Unknown~
You were a
blessing to us all,
You were a
special child,
And we're
so glad God sent you
To be with
us for awhile
You filled
our home with happiness
And made our
life complete
The time we
had with you
Was far too
short, but oh so sweet.
Some things
we don't find easy
To accept
or understand
Till we realize
they're part of
Our Creator's
perfect plan.
Now it comforts
us to know
You're with
the angels up above,
While in our
hearts we hold you close,
surrounded
by our love.
