We would like to extend our deepest thanks to all our readers, visitors and staff for making this last year a very wonderful, prosperous and sucessful year. We hope that your year was as prosperous and may next year bring you even more prosperity and good fortune.
We do want to apologize for not sending our letter in the last few months. We have been having a problem with one of our servers with remote* linking of images (files). We have finally rectified the problem in our favor. Thank you for understanding the situation as we know it.
* For those who do not understand "Remote" linking it is quite simple. Most free hosts only allow their files from their pages to be seen on their pages. Remote hosting allows an image from your site to be seen if used on another hosts site. In other words:
- Remote linking is the use of anyone else's file in your email or on a webpage, whether it is an image or an audio file.
- When someone visits your page, each file gets served up by the server that it is on. This uses bandwidth & that costs money.
- If you have an image or a MIDI file on your page that is hosted elsewhere, there is a cost to the other server.
- This cost gets passed on to the owner of the site.
To better explain it with images, below you have 2 images. Both on this page are remotely hosted by Bravenet. Our website and where all our files are stored is Angelfire . Angelfire who is our host and provider has either free hosting with "No" remote linking (where it will not allow the image to be seen, first example) or upgraded (2nd. example) as we have for the ability of remote linking as this page is a testimonial to.
This newsletter is on the "Bravenet" server. Our images on this page are called from our host, "Angelfire". Hence: Remote linking from Angelfire To Bravenet.
On a final note with "Remote" hosting. Angelfire is nice about it and gives you the above image telling you where it is being called from. With most hosts that do not allow remote hosting, all you will see is the infamous X .
We are still in the process of updating all our files with the proper URL's for all our images to work remotely. Please be patient while we finish this large task for your convenience.
